Recently, I've discovered that we're going to start requiring 2 phone numbers when one is a cellphone. When having to follow up with a customer, I've noticed that many of the cellphone numbers are reassigned or not in service.
When we moved into our apartment, our teen asked for a land phone. What do you do when your cellphone isn't charged up? Or the electricity is out?
Has your family gotten rid of your land phone?

I can understand why businesses would require a land line #, for follow-up reasons, but so many people are getting rid of their land lines, they might need an another option.
I'm ready to get rid of either the land line or the cell phones. I'm kinda stuck right now because I need my cell phone when traveling because I'm out in a rural area with kids and an older car , and my land line is part of the bundle that keeps my DSL affordable.
We still have our land line and cell phones. My husband needs his land line for his business.
We have been without a land line for over a year now and I haven't missed it. We have cable internet so we do not need the land line for internet service.
We only give our cellphone numbers to friends, family and some businesses(doc's office to name one and those places that would need to do some follow-up). But for the most part, we just say that our phone number is unlisted and businesses don't give us to much flack about it.
Having no landline has definitely reduced to nothing the amount of soliciations/surveys we were getting on the phone.
I think it comes down to personal preference.
