Churches Offering Online Tithings and Donations

Thanksgiving Dinner at Calvary Chapel Spring Valley

Our church, Calvary Chapel Spring Valley, recently expanding their online tithings and donations features. You imput the dollar amount and then your debit or credit card information. One can target their monies to select specific programs and missions.

We like the feature because we can make our tithings on our payday. This also creates the paper receipt that the IRS is now requiring. There also been some written articles that state churches and places of worship have seen an overall dollar amount increase from offering this feature.

My question today is "Does your church or place of worship offer online tithings or donations?" "Do you utilize it?"

Taking Time Off Work and Blogging

Rona and "Sgt Bob at the Nellis AFB Deployed Family Summer Picnic 2008

I'm off work due to a work related injury, for 5 days. I pinched a nerve, that's affecting my left arm and hand while lifting a box. UGH!

I'll be asking Marcus and Charles to fill in for me. In the meantime, I'll be catching up with my "Young and the Restless and "Murder She Wrote" online episodes.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Heavenly Father, please rest your healing hands upon my body. Relax the muscles that are pinching my nerve and relieve my pain. Amen.

Workplace Like Home - Virtual Water Cooler

When I started working from home, as a Virtual Customer Service Rep, one of things that I missed was the daily conversations with my co-workers. I remember even complaining to my husband about it. It wasn't long when I came across "Workplace Like Home" message board.

"Workplace Like Home" is your virtual water cooler. You find mostly telecommuters, who work as Independent Contractors in virtual call centers, data entry, transcription and coding. You can post about recipes, marriage, your favorite movies and books. There are also job leads, as well as links for purchasing the best head sets. You'll also be able to read posts from people complaining about working. Sounds familiar?

I really enjoy reading the posts. It definitely lets you know that you are part of fast growing group of people, telecommuters.

Menu Plan Monday - November 17

Lots of drama happening this week but as many of the Psalms verses say we must let give up our concerns, hope and concern at the feet of the Lord. Allow the Lord to lead the way. Pastor Derek always has a sermon that is relevant to whats happening to us. I will no longer get in verbal disagreements but allow the Lord to defend me.

In the meantime, our family is truly blessed with the support from others and our Heavenly Father.

Our church, Calvary Chapel Spring Valley, is having a Community Thanksgiving Dinner, on
November 27. I have to stop by the grocery store and pick up a few things, to donate.

Now onto the menu! Thank you Organizing Junkie!

One Dish Chicken and Vegetables

Since our family is following a low fat diet doesn't mean that we are forgoing flavor. Here's a comfort chicken and vegetable recipe that you'll find they'll enjoy. Experiment with the variety of vegetables. Originally the recipe didn't call for sweet potatoes but my family loves them.

While chicken thighs are not as low fat as chicken breasts, they are perfect for the Dutch oven. Be sure to choose skinless chicken thighs and trim any excess fat before cooking. Make sure to clean your vegetables before assembling your dish. Clean your cutting board, knife and hands before chopping your next vegetables.

1 medium white onion, chopped
1 acorn squash, chopped
1 handful of green beans, ends trimmed
1 8-ounce pack sliced mushrooms
1 sweet potato, chopped
2 medium red potatoes cut into chunks
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
crushed black pepper and salt
1/2 tsp fresh thyme
1 small sprig rosemary or equivalent of dried rosemary

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Coat bottom, sides, and top of lid of a large Dutch oven with nonstick cooking spray. Place vegetables in the pot. Trim chicken thighs of excess fat and cut into pieces. Add chicken to the pot, followed by herbs, kosher salt and pepper. Cook for 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender. - Get Great Job Search and Career Advice has definitely evolved into more then a job posting board, from many moons ago. You can get e-newsletters, online school information, money advice and job fair information, for free.

And I didn't even mention all the great job search features offers. (cover letters, resume posting)

So, take my advise, get your resume updated and maintained online. The last thing someone wants to be doing is their resume after they have been given their pink slip.
