Memphis Barbacue Restaurant - Restaurant Recommendation

Now that we live in North Las Vegas, right outside of Nellis AFB, we just had to stop by Memphis Championship Barbacue.

I loved the very intimate seating and fun decor. We were immediately greeted and seated by the restaurant manager.

Charles ordered the Pulled Pork dinner. The dish comes with two sides, he ordered the Collard Greens and the Hush Puppies. We liked the Collard
Greens, they were flavorful and hot but the remainder of the dish was disappointing.

Marcus and Charles was disappointed in the "famous recipe" sauces that they had available. First of all, the barbeque sauce was vinegar based, which is fine, but it would be nice to have a seperate choice of a tomato based sauce. They felt that it lacked any real personality, it lacked flavor and zip.

Marcus had the night's winner - the Barbacued Burger. He said it was pretty good.

And as for me, the next time I'm looking for some terrific Green Beans I know where to go. But, not worth a second visit despite the friendly service and atmosphere.

Our New Family Budget- Courtesy of Marcus

Marcus had to create a monthly budget based on a 22 year old single man, making $30,000 a year, for a school project. He actually enjoyed the project and was eagered in sharing his findings with us.

Charles and I asked him to create one for our family. One of the surprises was that we weren't spending enough money on groceries. We tend to then eat out and I've been trying to cut that down to two times a month.

Our new grocery monthly budget amount is $600!

We aren't coupon users since we don't like many processed, canned or frozen foods. I will utilize the store coupons and cards savings on fresh meats, fruits and veggies when possible.

The new area of Vegas, that we moved to, has a Walmart within less a mile. It's about 4-5 miles to a Fresh & Easy store for our favorite fruit, veggies and non-preservative meals and treats. So now we have to really think about our shopping trips.

The State of Nevada Health Care - Not Good

Man, do I miss my Vicodin! I would receive such a pleasant high with each pill. I was able to stop taking anti-depressants and anxiety pills. It helped me deal with my mutiple pain issues and get through the day. Or so I thought when the Nevada pain doctors advised me that they would no longer write the scrip.

I've been taking Loritab for over a year and am tired of it. The pills don't address my multiple pain issues. I've been running out of them and suffering from withdraws since I do not have health insurance.

The Las Vegas health care system is scary with clinics reusing dirty needles, padding bills of insured and limitations for pain management doctors to write scripts. I've met many people who admit that they get on a plane or in their car and head to California for proper health card.

Yes, I miss my yearly contract for Vicodin, with a yearly blood test to verify that my liver was functioning well. I was about to start taking Morphine before we moved to Las Vegas.

Now, I'm considering getting on a plane to San Diego for proper health care.

Are You Looking to Work From Home? Check This Out!

Yahoo posted an article, 10 Companies Hiring for Work From Home, on their own home page today. This is a terrific resource for those looking for fulltime or supplement income.

I worked from home, a Virtual Customer Service Representative for four years and loved it! I was able to pick my hours, work as much as I liked and still be there for the kidlet, hubby and our busy lives.

We Miss You San Diego

Las Vegas is boring! We miss you San Diego and this month we'll be back for a visit!

We still haven't found a descent Mexican restaurant. Yes, we visited Ricardo's and those who suggest it as an in-place left their taste buds at home!

Hopefully, we'll be able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at our family favorites...Old Town Mexican Cafe and Cafe Coyote!

I want to walk the sidewalks of Seaport Village and leisurely watch the colorful kites, dance above our heads.

Hang in there! We'll be there soon San Diego!
