Her Husband Rocks On! Grace for Gayle

I just love when someone shares their positive marriage posts.

After all these years Charles and I still love to make each other laugh. Let's face it, humor is really important in marriage.

Grace for Gayle shares some of the humor at her post, "How to Carry a Purse Like a Real Man".

Please take note of her husband's ability to complete the task and still look great! Now that's a real man!

How Did You Meet Your Spouse?

In honor of Charles and I's wedding anniversary, on April 26, I thought I would put this fun question on my blog.

"How Did You Meet Your Spouse"?

Well, I was a waitress at Friendly's restaurant, in Portland, Maine. Charles was a customer that came in every Thursday. He usually requested to sit in my section but I was dating someone else at the time. He always ordered the same thing...Cream of Brocolli soup - large and a cup of coffee.

One busy Saturday he asked me if I go to the movies with him. I felt rushed for an answer and said yes.

When we finally went out he took me to dinner and a jazz club. At the jazz club he told me he needed to tell me something...he was in the Navy. Ugh! It was too late I was hooked.

That was twenty-four years ago!

p.s. Marcus had the opportunity to visit the exact restaurant in 2004. He loved the food but couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that his parents didn't always know each other. See, even the teenagers believe in a soulmate.

Works for Me Wednesdays - Our Good Luck Rooster

Our Good Luck Rooster

In Portugal, it's common to receive a ceramic Portuguese rooster for a wedding gift and housewarming. It brings good luck to the home. We were introduced to this wonderful custom while living in The Azores. My father purchased a chicken for my mother. And for many years, that chicken had a prominent place in the kitchen.

While living in San Diego, my husband, Marcus and I took a trip to Old Town. At a small gift store I saw the ceramic Portuguese rooster. I smiled and shared the store with my husband.

On our first anniversary my husband presented me with our ceramic Portuguese rooster. I just cried. That told me that I truly had a family. Always.

These days, our rooster has enjoyed the view from several homes, that I share with the hubby and our teen. This definitely works for me!

Potluck Wedding Reception - Would You Have One?

Pasta Salad

One of my favorite blogs, 2000 Dollar Budget Wedding posted about potluck weddings.

I have to say after reading the post I've changed my opinion on attending them. They actually sound like more fun then a traditional reception. And you have to admit these days it's probably the way to go...financially.

Questions: Would you go to a potluck wedding reception?
Would you have one?

My Autumn Theme Fall French Twist Bouquet - Renewal Ceremony

The hubby and I had a dental cleaning appointment on Wednesday, at National Dental. I found out that my dental health has been very good. No cavities, gum disease and a quick cleaning. The hubby needs a root canal. Ugh!

On April 26, Charles and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary. What makes this one special is that we now have a scrapbook and video to help celebrate the day. (thanks to renewing our vows last October)

Church service had me reaching for the kleenex. The members of Exit gave their testimony. Even though they think adult Christians don't see the pain in the young generation they are wrong. I see and feel it. My former self was in deep pain. Anyways it was deeply meanful.and it's great that Calvary Chapel is focusing on reaching out to non-Christian youth.

Enough about us now onto the menu! Thank you Organizing Junkie for hosting MPM! Some of these dishes can be found at Everyday Food, Real Simple and Kraft!

Sting and Chris Botti in Boston - Feels Like Springtime

Chris Botti in Boston - Available in DVD and CD

Boy, do I just love listening to "Seven Days" by Sting and Chris Botti, on our local PBS station.

All these wonderful memories of springtime in Portland, Maine, sitting on the Promenade, enjoying a sandwich and lemonade from Auntie Leonie's while watching the boats came rushing back.

Hello springtime!
