Quote Cards Available at Lettered Cottage Art

I was looking for something different to spice up our photo gallery. I discovered these quote cards on The Lettered Cottage. Here's just a sample of the quote cards that I purchased from Lettered Cottage Art. I placed the cards in various frames then placed them on the bookcase and on the wall.

Show Us Your Life - Wedding Party and Flowers

Join in the fun at Kelly's Korner every Friday for Show Us Your Life. This Friday we're showing our wedding party and flowers.

We didn't have any photos from our wedding in 1996 so the hubby gave me a renewal, as a gift, when we moved to Las Vegas. We renewed our vows in October 2008.

I decided to purchase the bouquet and boutonnieres online. We were not disappointed!

Autumn Theme Silk Flower Bouquet available from A One of a Kind Florist
Donna created this bouquet for me via phone conversations and the email. I wanted something that I could keep, wouldn't be bridal and incorporated autumn. We think she did a terrific job!

Charles and Marcus wore suits from a local tux shop. We had a difficult time finding a shirt for Marcus due to his height, long arms and small neck. Their boutonnieres were made by Sweet B Papers at Etsy.

Christine, our mailperson and friend, was surprised when I told her that I would like her to walk down the aisle while we were sitting in the bridal suite. Her flowers were made by Victoria's Chapel. I think she looks beautiful.

We renewed our vows at Victoria's Chapel in Las Vegas. If you want something affordable, with lots of options I highly recommend them. Marcus walked me down the aisle, we re-exchanged our rings, lit a family unity candle, the minister said a prayer about marriage and I read my vows that I wrote. Charles liked the original vows and no, I wasn't disappointed. That's my husband and I love him.

Our "Little One" is a High School Senior!

Photos on the Pottery Barn Magnetic Board

I cannot believe our "Little One" is a senior in Odyssey High School this year.

Where did the time go? When did our baby grow into a very tall, hairy young man? I've known this time was coming but it feels like it snuck up on me.

Marcus has decided to finish the full senior year then sign up for military service. He has made a decision on whether it's the Air Force or the Navy. So Charles and I get to enjoy his clever wit for a bit longer.

More Gathering Room Re-Do Photos

Toby's Area - I put all his play things in a box and we placed his bed over here. He seems to like it much better

I moved the console table to this side of the room and the bench across from the dining table. We like to entertain and this way people can still eat and be part of the conversation

In this area I changed the pillow on the rocker. I like the colors of this one. Our teen likes to sit in the rocker with the lap desk.

I'll be posting some photos of the addition of some changes to the photo wall.

Gathering Room Re-Do - Joining in at DIY Day!

Our Gathering Room Re-do

Charles decided to take a nap. While he was sleeping I got the inspiration to do a re-do of the gathering room. Please note nothing was purchased. I just grabbed items from other rooms and looked through boxes.

Marcus and Charles love the new look. So do I!

I'll be posting more photos tomorrow of different angles of the our large room!

We love Judy, Cloud 9 Mobile Pet Grooming! She's so good with Toby, no growling or barking while getting cut. She answered our questions and gave us grooming tips.

It's an affordable service that comes to you. Kudos to Marcus for setting up the appointment and confirmation.

Here's the results of Toby's grooming. We think he looks terrific.

Works for Me Wednesday - Back to School

My husband and I are not math wizards, well we're lucky we have a calculator nearby to balance the checkbook.

Tutor.com offers affordable packages for your student, online, 24/7. I like that if he has a question he just heads over to the website, types it and has a teacher available to assist. And they cover a variety of subjects, including proofreading those reports before you send them into your teacher.

Many public libraries do offer Tutor.com for FREE. Stop your public library website for more information on details and times of availablity.

Olive and "House Beautiful" - Congratulations!

Postcard Pillow available at Olive

One of my favorite Etsy shops, Olive, was featured in this month's "House Beautiful" magazine! I think it's great that they would feature a small business.

Congratulations Olive! I hope that the feature brings you lots of new, repeat and loyal customers!

Mom Bloggers Debate Ethics - What's Your Opinion?

NPR recently posted an article about the growing number of mom bloggers who receive free trips, products and services from marketers in hopes of positive feedback.

Apparently at this year's Blog-Her conference it was a huge topic. Also mentioned in the article was that bloggers have admited to posting positive feedback to keep the traffic high.

It also appears that the Federal Trade Commission is looking into creating guidelines regarding bloggers.

What's your opinion on this matter? Do you frequent product recommendation blogs? How does their feedback affect your buying choices? Are you a product recommedation blogger and how do you feel about this topic?

Entertaining Friends at Home

Our friends ~ Sean, Wanda and Mikia

Our first dinner party in your new place last night!

We had such a great time with our friends, Wanda, Sean, Mikia. They were shocked at the size of our apartment, amazed at Marcus' growth, got to meet Toby and happy to spend some time with us.

Our menu included chicken and beef fajitas, Charles' guacamole and homemade pita chips, tomato, cucumber and feta salad, refried beans and for dessert...key lime pie!

Charles was the chef and Marcus, his assistant. They really do enjoy cooking together. Me ~ my usual last minute cleaning, setting up for the buffet and delegating.

Charles was very good all day so he got to have a small glass of beer. (he's a diabetic)

After dinner we enjoyed good conversation and the kids and I watched "Zoom". It's nice entertaining friends at home.

Thank You For The Sisterhood Award ~ His Grace To Me

Thank you Ann, His Grace To Me, for nominating me for The Sisterhood Award! Here's what she said!

First, I'd like to nominate Rona at BerryMorins Bits and Tips. She lives with chronic pain every day, but you would never know it! I always appreciate her positive outlook on life!

Remember, it takes much more energy to live negatively.

I would love to nominate Layla, The Lettered Cottage. She brings us her very talented remodel adventures of her home, affordable and beautiful decorating with lots of photos. Our family loves her style!

Also, I nominate Pleasant View Schoolhouse! I recently posted about how much I love her vintage 40's and 50's dresses. She shares her creative sewing, gardening and her daughter's cooking projects. She's a very talented photographer too.

I love these two blogs because they bring me a much needed relaxing break in my day. It's like putting your feet up and enjoying a box of your favorite chocolates and summer read!

"Could You Live Without Money" - Man Lives In Cave

First of all, I wouldn't volunteer to move to a cave. I like the idea of running water, A/C, and a comfortable bed.

I am very impressed though with his comment regarding his expectation of what life should be about. He states that hardship is a good thing ~ its a good thing for our bodies.

As a person who deals with severe chronic pain daily our Heavenly Father doesn't promise us that we will not have no hard times. My pain has brought much joy into my life! Yes, hardships are a good thing.
