I'm always saying that there's positives in a crisis. Today, Charles and I were fired. I was actually very happy that they let us go. My pain has gotten worst and I was unable to meet our job requirements.
The immediately pluses are that we are moving back to our favorite area of Vegas, Marcus will finish school here and I will not be returning to the job force.
Believe that our Heavenly Father knows us best and has control over our lives. Keep the faith!

Back to School Registeration Chaos
Charles and I found out that Marcus wasn't registered at Odyssey High School today. They still had not received his paperwork. We were lucky that today is our day off and immediately drove 20 miles one way to drop off his registration papers, pick an orientation date and time and follow up on his credits.
We unfortunately discovered that the Air Force will not recognize Odyssey High School credits so Marcus will have to choose the Navy or Coast Guard.
He's short an English credit so he'll be attending Brigham Young Distance Program. The great thing about Brigham Young is that the credit is recognized in Nevada, tuition is affordable and they will e-alert Odyssey Marcus' grade.

Las Vegas Locals Stay Off The Strip ~ Didn't You Know?

I recently had someone leave a question regarding Las Vegas locals distaste of The Strip. Like many towns and cities, the locals stay away from tourist traps. The Strip is no different. It's overpriced, crowded, loud and certain parts you don't want to be walking with your kids.
The casinos are smoke friendly~ they also house restaurants, bowling alleys, movie theaters and spas. Our family aren't smokers and definitely don't like the smell. We try to walk through the main area as fast as possible to get to our destination.
Locals do have their own casinos located in the neighborhoods. They're not overpriced and cater to the locals by not offering big attractions. We do go to them because that's also where the bowling alleys, movie theaters and restaurants are.

Are You a Survivor? $19 Hotel Package
Charles and I after taking the San Diego Bay Cruise in 2000
I like to save money ~ who doesn't? And I love staying in a luxury hotel with all the amenities. But would you stay in a luxury hotel and bring your own toilet paper, a flashlight, towels and bed linens to save $19?
Looks like a the Rancho Bernado Inn ,in San Diego, is offering you that opportunity. If you like sleeping on a bed, without the sheets, the room rate is $39. And for $59 they'll include the toilet paper and toileties.
So, are you a survivor? Which package would you choose?

Menu Plan Monday - August 17, 2009
This was taken in 2001 at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
Wow! Am I alone or is August just flying by? It's been busy with lots of military moving in, booking UHaul and renting storage units. The 15% military discount and $21 Move In special are a great traffic generator.
Tomorrow Charles and I are attending a Mixer at the Texas Station. We enjoy networking with other businesses and there's going to be a tasting. (those are always fun)
Our grocery shopping was truly an event ~ $453 later we had two full shopping carts. Marcus was extremely helpful with loading, unloading and sorting the groceries.
Now onto this week's menu. This week's recipes are from Pressure Cooker Recipes, Real Simple and Better Homes and Gardens.
Marcus' Real Simple Lasagna
Lamb Chops, Barley Salad and Tomato Dressing
Tilapia Puttanesca, Mixed Salad Greens
Spiced Beef Kabobs with Mashed Carrots
Stuffed Tomatoes and Pepper
