When I read this news story I thought about a full circle being drawn.

As we began drawing the circle we see the wedding planner who decided to put on this event to help couples have a beautiful wedding.

Then the the many volunteers and donors that are being blessed by participating.

As we continue creating the circle, the couple fees being donated to a local kids charity that provides daycare for parents looking for work.

And as we finish the circle, we see many smiling faces and warmed hearts.

There's just so much love, good feelings and blessings by one person deciding to take their talents to benefit others.

I was dropping Marcus off at the recreation center and hung around chatting with the staff. One of the recreation center staff stated that after they moved into their new home, her husband's hours were drastically reduced. They really needed her husband's income to pay the mortgage. So, they asked a friend, who needed a place, if he would be interested in renting a room in their home. He replied yes and they are able to pay their mortgage.

Now, she did admit the living arrangement has been difficult but everyone has a common goal...to keep a roof over their heads and they are adjusting. Their renter helps around the house and even volunteers to care for her twins. She recently purchased him a small refrigerator which he keeps in his room. It gives him a little more privacy.

I liked this story of how they're able to keep their home and also help someone else.

Instead of paying for magazine and newspaper subscriptions I'll head over to our local library. Many of the magazines can be checked out. Also, our library has a variety of popular and specialized magazines. Besides saving money it's "green".

I also do not buy books or DVDs. I just check the library online catalog and request the book. For newer books you can even email your request to the library, if they're not currently carrying it.

We also recently cancelled our Netflix since we can borrow DVDs or watch online full episodes.

Blessfest 2009 - Las Vegas

Marcus said that he truly appreciated the new experience, of volunteering at Blessfest. I was truly touched by every person I met. There were so many stories. Marcus and I were mistaken as guests several times but I was okay with that. The event was for the homeless and low income. And you know what catogory we fall in.

I had to use medical services because the injury to my right finger was really bothering me. They ended up cleaning it out and putting a bandage on it. After the event ended we brought home food, a pumpkin pie and some clothes for the neighbors.

It was good to help those who didn't have the means to travel to the event.

We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving too.

Eppi Card User Suggestions - My Personal Experience

As I mention in the header, of my blog, you will get no complaints here. Let's call this a suggestion regarding the infamous Eppi Card. Eppi Visa/MasterCard debit cards are being used by many states to pay unemployment benefits and child support payments. And yes, there's problems with the cards.

Yesterday, I went to my local Smith's grocery store to pick up a few items. I swiped the card and the display screen showed "unaccepted", ran it a second time "unaccepted" and than the third time it showed "approved".

This morning, I checked the online balance and it showed that the transaction was approved twice. When I called Eppi's customer service I was informed that it was Smith's fault, they needed to fix their error or I could wait 3-5 working days for them to fix it!

My suggestion to is to not use it as a debit card. When your funds hit, remove them and make a deposit into your regular checking account to avoid delays!

Don't you just love The History Channel? Well, we do in our house. I also love the website because you can watch video clips on various subjects, including Thanksgiving.

Stop by the website in between basting the turkey, for an entertaining history lesson. Happy Thanksgiving!

Our refrigerator is full thanks to Angel Food Ministries and our neighbors! One of neighbors receives a trunkload of various bread items once a week. She was very generous and shared some with us.

Charles and I also picked up our Angel Food boxes on early Saturday morning. If you order online, don't forget to use this month's coupons.

Oh, I almost forgot that our church gave us a 15 pound turkey! All I need to purchase this week is butter, oil, milk, coffee, coffee creamer and some toiletries! Thank you Heavenly Father!

On Sunday, our family attended the Driver's Edge event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This is a free driving course, with professional racecar drivers, for teenagers. They learn to pull out of a spin, how to properly break and stop. Each teen left with a T-shirt, hat, and a certificate. As a family we left more informed. If this event ever comes to your area sign your teens up!
