Knitting Circle in Las Vegas - The Volunteer Center in Las Vegas

Do you know how to crochet or knit? Would you like to learn how to so your creations can help those in need?

The Volunteer Center is putting together the first ever Knitting circle. Men and women of all ages and abilities will be welcome to join a group in their area and all items created will be donated to partner organizations whose clients could use the warmth and beauty of these handmade items.

Right now they are looking for volunteers who are willing to lead a knitting circle or who have the skills to teach others in the group. Group leaders should be friendly, outgoing and able to commit to attending the group. Teachers should have some experience in basic knitting or crochet and be willing to help others learn. You do NOT have to be highly experienced just willing to learn and help others learn.

To become a leader or teacher please email Heather at HeatherM@uwsn.org for more details. Time commitments, schedules and locations are flexible.

Diabetics Can Enjoy Great Tasting Chocolate on Valentine's Day - See's Candy

My hubby loves chocolates anytime, especially on Valentine's Day. But, he's a diabetic. Our family has tried several sugar free chocolates and weren't impressed.

One day, one of our former self storage customers gave us a See's Candy gift certificate. We stopped by our local See's Candy store and were pleasant surprised to see that they had sugar free chocolates!

We asked the counter person if we could try a piece and were blown away! This year, I'm planning on treating my adorable hubby with a box of sugar free chocolates with walnuts. (his favorite)

Happy Valentine's Day

How To File And Buff Your Nails (Beauty & Style: Manicures)

For some of us even a $12 manicure is out of our budget but we still want to have nice looking nails.
I found an online video, courtesy of VideoJug, that shows you step by step how to file and buff your nails properly. The narrator even gives you helpful tips and suggestions to accomplish those shining nails.

I Was Interviewed for a News Story - Unemployment Phone Lines Still Busy

I had sent an email to Channel 13 regarding the continuous problem with busy signals when calling the unemployment office several weeks ago.

Since the new unemployment rate numbers came out and they were worst and I had sent my email I received a phone call from the news station. They requested to stop by our house with a cameraman and interview me.

They stayed for about an hour, even spoke with Marcus and Charles.

Here's a link to the print story.

Free Nevada Drug Plan Card

Nevada residents can download a free discount prescription drug card, Nevada Drug Card and receive savings of up to 75% on their prescriptions at participating pharmacies. (CVS, Kmart, Albertsons, Walmart, Vons, Sam's Club, and many other chain and independent pharmacies)

Use this card if you're without prescription coverage or your insurance doesn't cover your prescription.

Times are Tough in Las Vegas

Yes, the unemployment rate is higher then Nevada, more companies, state and local goverment announcing layoffs. Even my husband's hours have been cut by 2/3.

So, what does a family do? You work together has a team and look at your expenses and see where you can cutback.

I was hoping that we could be moving in 3 months but those plans have been shelved.

In the meantime, we will continue to pray for the Heavenly Father's continue support doing these troubling times.
