Cleaning Is Easier When The Guys Are Gone

Housekeeping Bucket courtesy of Martha
I was pleasantly surprised to discover last night that I would have the apartment to myself today.

Charles is off to work for a 8-hour shift and Marcus is visiting his friend for the day.

That leaves me, lots of laundry, dirty dishes and vacuuming to be conquared alone! And you know what? That's fine with me!

I'll be able to get my fill of HGTV and Food Network tv shows without the usual grunts of disapproval and boredom.

Turbo Tax - Another Happy Client

I've been using Turbo for several years, to file our taxes. They make it so easy that next year, I'll recommend for our teen to use their site when he does his first filing.

It really is user friendly. (in comparision to H&R Block)

if you haven't utilized their tax filing site before the program walks you thru with a series of questions, to make sure you're getting every deduction. And if you need additional help it's available, for a fee.

Lamp Unto My Feet: Getting Your Kids to Live Frugally

If you've been following our blog the last several months we've been adjusting to a lost of income.

We immediately sat down with our teen and discuss the finances and priorities. We taught him how to read the food prices and weekly specials. He and I volunteered at our local clothing swap and were able to get enough clothes for the year.

I'm glad to say that he's now has a part time job at a local recreation center where he has been volunteering.

My point is to include your teens in helping the family survive. Let's face it, for some of us that's what it's all about.

Just click on the top link to read the article. These are tips that they will keep with them into adulthood.

Utah Mulls Eliminating 12th Grade to Save Money

Utah Mulls Eliminating 12th Grade to Save Money

So, what do you think? Should they eliminate the 12th grade to save money?

My opinion is that there are many students who need that year to complete their graduating requirements. Will they give them option to finish at home?

Marcus, our teen, opinion is the same. Look for other ways to save money.

Menu Plan Monday - February 15, 2009

I hope you had a terrific Valentine's Day. We certainly did. The hubby and I enjoyed a leisurely breakfast at Einstein's Bagel ,on Saturday. If you haven't had their apple cinnamon bagels I want to encourage you to give them a try! They are amazing! I stuck with my all time favorite...pumpernickel . Always delicious!

Sunday morning, the hubby made brunch! We enjoyed our fill of Tri Tip, Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Aspargus! Yummy!

I did give my two favorite guys some gifts. Marcus got a box of Strawberry Pop Tarts! (his favorite) Charles received a box of See's Sugar Free Chocolates with Walnuts.

I'm now starting my 4th week of work. I'm still adjusting to having a set schedule versus creating my own work schedule when working for West Corporation. My husband and Marcus have been so helpful. The hubby took my break schedule, wrote it out and posted it to the wall, type up all my passwords and emails so they're on one neat sheet and organized my desk and wall space. Marcus checks up on me during my work day to see if I would like some bottle water, coffee or a snack. Like I said I do enjoy working from home.

Enough about us, now onto this week's menu! Thank you to Organizing Junkie for her hosting duties.

Tri Tip, Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables

Baked Pork Chops, Brown Rice and Zucchini

Spaghetti with Whole Wheat Pasta

Turkey Sandwiches and Soup

Oven Fried Fish and Chips
