Eddie Bauer: Casual Denim Trouser

Eddie Bauer: Casual Denim Trouser

I'm actually in the market for a pair of jeans and a casual pair of trousers. I haven't gone clothes shopping in over a year. I only have 1 pair of jeans and 1 pair of khakis.

Old Navy has terrific prices but I've noticed their lifeline isn't very long. Eddie Bauer jeans last me till I lost a lot of weight and had to donate them to Goodwill.

Well, for now I'm still just looking.

"You're Depressed. Why Aren't You Seeing a Doctor?"

These were the words that came out of my new pain management doctor's mouth right after I shook his hand, said hello and sat down. My response "Yes, I know that so what." See I get very defensive when doctor wants to ask me why I'm not seeing additional doctors and taking additional medications. They say it's so I can get better but they don't have to pay the bill.

I don't live in California any more Dorothy, the home of the HMO, where seeing another doctor is $25 and additional medications is a $5 co-pay.

In Nevada, it's the land of traditional and PPO insurances and corrupt doctors. In the two years of living in Las Vegas I've spent thousands of dollars seeing multiple doctors, having duplicate tests and procedures that didn't work and medications that were over $600 a month. My migraine medication is $1000 because it was not on my insurance's formulary list.

Anyways, back to my appointment. I informed him that I just got my insurance and hadn't had time to research it fully to see how much they cover for mental health. His response "Why aren't you seeing a psychologist? Don't you want to get better?" I shed some tears. And here's my punch line...Just because you have insurance doesn't mean you can afford to use it.

ps I found out the psychologist he referred me to is not in my plan. One of the medications he prescribed is $80, which I placed on hold.

Hubby Has a Job Interview Next Week - Interview Prep Time Starts Now

First, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and all the people who are unemployed and underemployed in this horrible mess. One truly feels it in Las Vegas where we have a 13.8% unemployment rate. Many experts believe it's actually in the high 20-30% if you include the underemployed and those who no longer qualify for benefits.

After many months of applying for jobs my husband received a call for an interview. The job is a CSR in a call center.

First of all, this is not my husband's field. He doesn't know much about call center work other than watching and listening to me over the last 6 years.

I've offered to sit with him, go over some of the terminology and the standard interview questions. He has declined.

So, here's my dilemma. I don't think he really wants this job. If you knew my husband you would know he doesn't like rapid change, doesn't like alot of chaos and hates fast pace learning, at work. Well, surprise! That's how all of the call centers I've worked at function!

I've finding it very difficult to be supportive while theres a part of me that know he's not crazy about being offered the job. Well, I guess I'll just pray for continued support during this difficult time.

Live On Letterman - The Heavy

The Sock Monkey and His Posse Driving in on The Las Vegas Strip

Live On Letterman

Have you heard this song by The Heavy yet? Just think of the Sock Monkey, his posse and a Kia and you've probably heard the very short version.

David Letterman had them on his show and asked them for an encore! I always knew he was a hip fellow. Oh enjoy!

Flexible Saving Accounts - Consumer Accounts MasterCard Card

My Home Work Space

When our son was very young we always had a dependent care and a health care flexible account through our employer.

We were required to get receipts, make copies and then mail them in so we could receive a reimbursement check within 7-10 business days.

As technology advanced we no longer had to wait for a check. The amounts were automatically deposited into our checking account but we were still required to mail in our receipts.

I definitely enrolled for health care flexible account with my new employer, along with our other benefits.

I was pleasantly surprised when my husband opened the mail and found a Consumer Accounts MasterCard. I called the customer service department and asked several questions. One being how do I use the card.

The CSR informed me that our annual savings was preloaded onto the card. We can now use our card to pay for our prescriptions, co-pays for doctor's visits, dental and vision expenses.

That's a blessing since we don't have to wait to have the money for all my medications! Marcus and Charles can have their own card. Which is a plus since Marcus can go to his own appointments and use the card to pay for visits, dental and vision care.

Menu Plan Monday - March 15, 2010

I really enjoy listening to Pastor Benny of The Church at South Las Vegas! He has such an infectious excitement for The Word! I love starting my week this way!

My health benefits have finally been processed. Whew! So I had the hubby do some fast work and get me an appointment with a Pain Management doctor within their plan.

I do miss the days of living in San Diego and regardless of changing jobs Kaiser was the primary HMO so no need to change doctors!

Marcus received his first paycheck last week. The big surprise for us is that he's contributing to his retirement fund at 18 years old! I'm glad that he's learned from our mistakes and is planning for his future.

Enough news...now onto this week's menu plan. Thanks to Organizing Junkie for hosting MPM!
