Supporting Our Local Animal Shelters - Nevada SPCA

Toby, the Wonder Dog protecting a sleeping teenager from approaching enemies

I know that Toby is doing well in his new home, thanks to the Nevada SPCA. The surgery was able to fix his leg, with the help of the Xrays that we gave them when we surrendered Toby.

They put the potential family through a series of questions prior to letting the pet leave with their new family. I even saw his picture on their blog when they announced that he was ready for adoption, on September 11, 2009. He was adopted the next day. (I cried my eyes out)

When I can I donate $10 in the name of Toby, always thanking them for taking such good care of him and finding him a good home.

In this horrible economy many families and individuals have had to make the difficult decision to surrendered their pets. I am so thank for the time we had with Toby.

He'll always be in our hearts and part of our family. I'm also thank for non-kill shelters, which need our support with our time, monetary and item donations.

And that's why the NSPCA works for me!

A Few Things About Me - Ultimate Blog Party 2010

I've noticed that I neglected including a few interesting things about me. Yes, I can be interesting when not wearing my mom or wife hat!

1. I once picked potatoes, at a farm in Maine.

2. I do enjoy reading Christian romantic fiction, especially Beverly Lewis.

3. I met my husband at my work place, in 1987. I was a waitress at Friendly's Restaurant and he was a customer that would come in every Thursday. And yes, I still remember his order; a large bowl of cream of broccoli soup and coffee.

4. I've had a breast reduction in my late 20's because I needed to.

5. I'm a former Air Force brat, lived in New Jersey, Delaware, Bermuda, Oklahoma, Azores, Newfoundland and Maine.

6. My husband and I renewed our wedding vows 2 years ago, in Las Vegas. I always cry when I look at the photo of him watching our son and I walk down the aisle.

7. I'm a severe chronic pain sufferer since March 2000 when I was involved in a car accident. My pain has gotten worst over the years, along with the grocery list of diagnosis.

8. I was baptized in Mission Bay, San Diego courtesy of Horizon Christian Fellowship.

9. My husband and I used to be self storage property managers, for 2 years, when we moved to Las Vegas, before we were fired.

10. My husband and I love coffee! Our teen isn't a fan but can make a great pot of coffee.

Paula Deen's Savannah Style Book is Now Available!

She was on Joy Behr Show this weekend. As usual, she had everyone laughing, including the camera crew and me!

It appears Paula has a new book, Paula Deen's Savannah Style, out regarding giving your home Southern touches. The photos that appeared in First for Women, April 12, 2010 magazine left me wanting more.

While I won't be purchasing the book I do plan on borrowing it from my local public library.

Menu Plan Monday - April 12, 2010

london broil with red onions

This week is full of doctors and eye appointments for Big Daddy aka Charles and me. Charles is finally getting a much needed eye exam and ordering a new pair of eyeglasses. And me, well I have a standing weekly therapy session. I have to say I don't feel any better yet but I'm still going.

We started sorting, throwing out and bringing items from our 5x10 storage unit. I gave the family a 2 month deadline but it looks like we might be able to clear out within one month!

The first day was extremely hard and yes, I cried when Charles threw out Marcus' Mickey Mouse hat. Then he got upset when I told him to toss his briefcase of tape cassettes. Today was a little bit easier as we were bringing home photos, CDs, curtains for Marcus' room and some of our family favorite drinking glasses! (Crate and Barrel working glasses with lids)

It's just another week in the BerryMorin family's neck of the woods!
Now onto this week's menu plan. Thank you to Organizing Junkie for her hosting duties.

Oh, it's not to late to party hardie with the bloggers at Ultimate Blog Party 2010!

How Ya Doing Barney? I Love Watching Barney Miller on Hulu!

When I was a teenager I had a crush on Ron Glass aka Ron Harris , on "Barney Miller". I thought he was so handsome and intelligent.

Who knew that my husband was also a fan of the same TV show?

These days, we get our fill of classic "Barney Miller" episodes on Hulu and WGN Superstation.

Even our teenager has become of fan of the TV show, especially Abe Vigoda as Detective Fish. And yes, he's still alive!

Yes Dorothy, You're Not in Kansas Anymore! Men's Job Losses Mount, Wives Feel the Impact

I've been enjoying this year's Ultimate Blog Party 2010. There's are alot more first time participants this year. And as one reads a person's profile, once in awhile I'll come across one where the family is dealing with the husband's unemployment.

Here's one sentence that just resonated with me -"My husband lost his job and it's driving me crazy!"

Oh girl, I truly know how you feel. And you're not alone in your emotions. There are other women who feel the same way you do.

Click on here to read Men's Job Losses Mount, Wives Feel the Impact. While it does address the emotions it also does provide some tips for surviving the lost or reduction of income. Some more painful then others but it's worth a read.

Check out one of my favorite marriage and faith bloggers, every Tuesday. Sue Cramer, Praise and Coffee prays for our marriages. I do too.
