Starting a New Medication at FOG Magazine ~ A great article.
Here's some tips that I have found helpful over the years.
It's so important to ask your doctor and the pharmacist questions about a new medication.
What are the side effects? How long can they last? What side effects should I report to my doctor immediately? Can this new medication interact with my vitamins? WebMD is a fantastic website to get information on your prescriptions. Want to know other people's feedback that are taking the same medication? Check out the
User Reviews.
Remember to bring your medications or a list with you to your doctor's appointments. This is what works for me. I put my medications in a large zip lock bag, put it in my purse and when my doctor asks me what I'm taking I just pull it out!
Share with your doctor your experience with medications that didn't work. Since my 10 years of chronic pain there has been times doctors have wanted to prescribe medications that didn't work or caused negative side effects. This feedback also saves me money too.
Keep a journal. Note how you're feeling ~ condition is improving or not. Side effects ~ what side effects, the severity and length. This information is very helpful when you have a follow up appointment with your doctor.
Please feel free to share your tips.
