Coffee Creamer Prices Increases at the Grocery Store

My husband and I were at the grocery store yesterday and noticed that Coffee Mate prices were as high as $4!

There were other items that I noticed, such as coffee. How about $10 for Folgers. Yikes.

Renewing Your Marriage Vows Every Few Years - Marriage About.com

My husband and I renewed our wedding vows a couple of years ago. It didn't replace our wedding. It did have much meaning that Marcus was involved and part of the ceremony.

Here's several reasons for renewing your wedding vows, courtesy of Marriage About.com

•You were married in a different country and want to celebrate your marriage locally with family and friends.

•It is a special anniversary, such as your 5th, 10th, 25th, 50th, etc.

•You and your spouse have had a difficult time and want to start fresh.

•The two of you want to make a public statement of your love and commitment to each other.

•You originally had a civil wedding, and you want to have a religious ceremony now.

Tutor.com ~ Service Recommendation

When Marcus was in high school we made sure to have an active account with Tutor.com. I liked that their service is available 24/7 and interactive.

Now that Kiana is living with us and will be starting her Junior year at her distance learning high school we will be giving her an account with Tutor.com.

Tutor.com offers affordable packages for your student, online, 24/7. I like that if you have a question you just head over to the website, types it and have a teacher available to assist. And they cover a variety of subjects, including proofreading those reports before you send them into your teacher.

Marcus and Kiana playing Xbox games in Marcus' room

Looking for some back to school bargains? Have some back to school bargains that you would like to share?

Head over to Keeping the Kingdom First and share a link for other back to school frugal shoppers.

I'm planning on buying clothes at Old Navy and Target for Kiana. I set her up with a $200 clothing budget. Since she goes to high school online she only needs a notebook, pens and pens. Nevada Partnership of Homeless Teens is providing her with free tutoring, transportation, backpack and school supplies.

Menu Plan Monday - July 27, 2010

Charles has a test for a job with the TSA today. This process can take up to a year or more so in the meantime he's focusing on his Assistant Apartment Complex Manager position.

Next month, Kiana is returning to Odessey High School, as a junior. We need to buy her some school clothes and school supplies. I bought a new laptop last week, that way she can have one for homework and stuff.

Charles and I have discovered GardenBurgers. They're actually really good. Thanks Kiana.

We've Been Living in Las Vegas for Three Years Now

A view off of our balcony

As of July 15, we've been living in Las Vegas for 3 years. I'm also proud to say that I no longer hate doing so!

For yesrs, all we could think about was how we were going to get back to California. Which is really silly when you think that we left so that we could have a better life.

Sure, Las Vegas has many things that make it a challenge to live here. Such as the high unemployment, medical fraud, homelessness, crime and drug abuse to name a few.

It's also the place that we were able to find employment that has given us free or reduced rent. We have some great friends here. Kiana has joined our family. And it has been the place that I've finally been able to find peace and contentment.

Here's to another great year in Las Vegas.

The Middle Class is Shrinking - Yahoo Finance

When I saw the title of this news article I wasn't surprised to hear this. The recession and high unemployment have really beaten the US middle class down.

The article also states that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

Here's some of the statistics that I found extermely alarming:

*The top 10% of Americans earn 50% of our national income

*40% of Americans are working in low paying service jobs

*In 2010 we had the highest percentage of children living in poverty.

Please keep our nation in your prayers today.
