Quick Cleaning Solutions for Every Room | Real Simple

I'm always looking for ways to squeeze in cleaning duties into my busy schedule.

So when I finally found some downtime I decided to visit Real Simple. Now all I have to do is get the hubby and teens to read this article.

It's Official Nevada Unemployment is the Highest in USA

While it's good news that the United States unemployment rate is down it's bad news in Nevada. Right now, experts are stating it's around 14% in Nevada. Las Vegas unemployment rate is over 15%. Some experts state the actual numbers are in the 20%.

It would be great if Las Vegas would encourage diverse businesses but that's not going to happen as long as the casinos have a strong hold on the economy.

Wall Decoration - Saving Money

We have many walls in our home that need decorating. So, I decided to use items that we already have, memo board, bulletin boards and loads of photos.

Here's just one of my projects.

I Love These Rubber Gloves ~ Available at Walmart

Don't you just love the color and pattern? I found these on an end cap at our local Walmart. I've always been a sucker for funky rubber gloves.

Use Your Mail Order Prescription, Save 50% or More or Pay Higher Price at Pharmacy

Recently, I've been receiving letters from my prescription plan advising me that if I chose their mail order pharmacy service I would save 50% or more on a 90 day order. If I didn't chose to participate my co-pay would be raised.

When I went to CVS last week to pick up 5 medications I was in sticker shock! $92 was my co-pay instead of $65!

Long story short, I did call my prescription provider and sign up for mail order prescription. They will contact my doctors for new prescriptions.

Here's my question: Isn't this just another way that big business is crushing another business? Which will result in more layoffs and store closing?

Smart cell phone ~ too expensive and a not necessary for your college bound student

Printers - with the cost of ink and paper they are better off with a flash drive

Meal Plans - a much more affordable and healthier route is to give the gift cards to the local grocery store or Subway

Can you believe it's back to school month already? Wow! Did this summer vacation go fast!

Marcus isn't returning to school but Kiana is starting her Junior year at Odyssey High School, a distance high school. We'll be taking her back to school clothes shopping in a couple of weeks. She's also getting her hair done by "T".

Marcus has decided to go to college next year. He wants to major in Childhood Development.

Enough about the kids and now onto this week's menu.

Cooling Down a Room With Curtains

Our master bedroom

Since our bedroom gets the most sun it's one of the warmest rooms in the apartment.

I have a nice collection of curtains so I just needed to select one that would do the job.

Now, when one goes into the room it's much cooler. This will also help in reducing our electric bill.
