Show Us Your Life - Apartment Kitchen

This is our 5th apartment in Las Vegas, in 3 years! Actually we live in a city called North Las Vegas. We moved here because my husband was managing the property. The corporate office recently laid him off but allowed us to keep our apartment.

Our family of 4 loves the open space, in this kitchen. We enjoy talking with each other from the dining and living area while one or two of us is in the kitchen.


The pictures are from Pier 1 Imports in San Diego. My husband and I purchased them because they remind us a leisurely life near the beach. The chicken towel holders are from Pier 1 as well. We purchased them in Las Vegas.


Henrietta, the Polka Dot Hen is from a Middleburg Folk Art. I love Etsy! The Portuguese Chicken came from a small boutique store, in Old Town, San Diego. My husband remembered the smile I had on my face, as I talked about the legend behind them. So on our second wedding anniversary he presented me with my own Portuguese Chicken!


This gal loves a shiny kitchen sink. The Wash Your Hands wall decal was purchased from HouseHoldWords.
My husband loved this snowman cookie jar so much that he brought it home!


A nice view of our open kitchen! You'll notice we have a piggy bank on the counter. Her name is Piggy! She holds all our change for the soda and snack machine at the pool. The trailer planter holder was another fun find by the hubby. We love decorating our home with whimsical pieces.

He's applied for a number of tech support and website work at home companies and hopes to hear back from them soon.

As I was getting my nails done by Shanna and one of the hair stylist stopped by to admire the color.

A reminder that in Clark County we have over 50% of our high school students homeless. Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth is providing social services, necessities and a new start for these kids.

I just got back from having a mammogram today. And I'm glad I did.

As many of us ladies do, I procrastinated! And then decide to just get it out of the way! I schedule an appointment for this afternoon. When I walked into the imaging facility I was blown away with their amazing decor. Right out of Pottery Barn!

Jeanette, the Mammogram Tech, was extremely nice. She joked abit and then got right to work.

So, let's remember that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! If you haven't had your mammogram...don't wait...schedule and go to your appointment!

For those that may not have health insurance there are many programs that offer free mammograms.

Saw My Pain Management Doctor Today ~ He Says Hello!

Dr. Harris is referring me for a MRI of my neck, in preparation of having some cervical injections.

I also asked for a prescription for a TENS Unit. This device did help me deal with my rough days and helped me from taking additonal pain medication.

With our many moves, I've lost my unit and needed a replacement. Now I have to find a medical supply store that accepts my insurance. I so miss HMOs!

After the Tornado Lifted From Kiana's Closet

I finally got Kiana's closet clean, sorted and organized on Monday!

I put some boxes, that I found in Marcus' room, to good use. After 2 hours, I put the Dymo Labelmaker away and stretched out on the floor.

We Have 2 Teens, Some Ripe Bananas and a Recipe!

I asked Marcus and Kiana to make the Banana Bread this time around. After several grueling questions and my guidance they turned out a delicious and moist actually did a fantastic job.

Bonus ~ The apartment smells so good!

Charles Passed His Background Check!

The hubby got the great news yesterday via email. He's now preparing for his online training class.

Kiana is Officially a Senior!

Kiana has added 2 extra classes to her schedule so that she may graduate with her class. She's officially a Senior!

Sweet Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin Was a Winner at Our House!

I was really feeling the homemaker vibe yesterday! I even wore one of my apron all day!

After some debate I decided to Make Sweet Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin from Allrecipes.

I also served a mixed green salad with tomatoes, mushrooms and feta cheese, homemade biscuits and sauteed cabbage! Oh, I did substitute the pork bacon for turkey bacon and the honey was sugar free honey.

The whole dinner made me feel like we were dining out. The smells and the look even got Marcus out of his room. Charles keep commenting how amazing everything was. He had seconds, retired to the couch and fell asleep.

At the end of dinner Marcus offered to wash dishes! Now the winning dinner people!

Menu Plan Monday ~ October 4, 2010

My husband is still waiting for his background check to be completed. In the meantime, his unemployment benefits have finally been approved and deposited on his EPPI card.

Kiana, Marcus and I spend an hour or more in Party City this weekend. We tried on fun hats and masks. It was really fun walking the aisles and commenting on the various costumes with them. Silly me forgot the camera at home!

Marcus informed me that he needs some new sneakers. Now, he may work at Big 5 Sporting Goods and receive a discount but he informed me that they do not carry his 15 shoe size. That means we'll be placing an online order at Footlocker.

Kelly's Korner is having her weekly linky party, Show Us Your Life. This week is dining rooms.

In our home the dining space is a gathering area for many family activities. The table is a place to talk, use our lap tops, watch TV, and eat.


Here's a view from the kitchen. We purchased the dining set from Ashley's Furniture when we moved to Las Vegas. Due to severe chronic pain I really needed the pub chairs and table for comfort.


One of favorite things in our apartment is the built in book shelves. You'll notice they're full of cookbooks.


The clock was purchased at Ikea in San Diego. The wall decal was purchased at Household Words at Etsy.


The coffee planter purchased from Walmart gardening section is our odds and ends holder.
