Bad Pain FlareUps....Time for Some Inspector Lewis

Whenever I have pain flare ups I know I'm going to be miserable so after between some housework and a walk to the mailbox I'll lay down and watch some episodes of "Inspector Lewis" of Masterpiece Mystery PBS.

The awesome writing and acting help keep my mind busy and off my increased pain.

Due to the various British dialects and slang I always have the captions on. For example: take away is our take out

Oh no, the butler did it?!

This Year's Christmas Tree 2011 ~ It's Full!

This year I added small photo frames of Marcus and the greeting cards that we received. Now, I have no more space in our Christmas tree!

Baby, I'm done decorating the tree!

Homemade Fish & Chips Anyone?! Don't Forget The Malt Vinegar!

We're making a New Year's resolution to eat more of our meals from scratch. So, when Marcus mentioned he wanted Fish & Chips we knew we would make this recipe.

And here's the delicious finished dish!
Marcus almost forgot the malt vinegar! Yummy!

We're Watching Julie & Julia Again

The first time my husband and I watched "Julie & Julia" was a year ago, on Netflix. He came into the room, sat down and declared it's a great movie.

I'm glad that this is now one of our couple time movies. You know the ones that you can watch repeatedly and never lose their charm.

So tonight, we sit on our couch, drinking our coffee from our His and Hers coffee mugs, laughing,

and smiling while watching "Julie & Julia".

Bank of America Overdraft Settlement Checks Have Been Mailed!

In case you haven't heard Bank of America settlement checks have been processed. One of my fellow Workplace Like Home buddies commented that she received her $98.16 check last week.

If you have further questions here's the website regarding the settlement or you can call toll-free 1-877-625-9405.

p.s. we haven't received our check yet.

Kim Zolciak, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Wedding Dresses

Kim Zolciak, The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Kroy Breirmann, Atlanta Falcons, wedding guests were not allowed to take photos due to Bravo filming for their upcoming spin off TV show.

Apparently, the bride and groom changed clothes a few times.

I'm not a fan of the multiple dresses. I like the idea of "the dress"!

Kroy looks very handsome in his tux. Since Kim's dress is very detail I do like that she chose a shorter veil.
Check out Kim in her white jumpsuit. I can see how this would be good for dancing all night!
I've noticed that brides are starting to have a dress for the reception. This is definitely her style.
I love the white bouquet. The dress looks wicked heavy.
Here's the wedding dress on the hanger.

Sears Announces Closing 100-200 Stores

We haven't shopped at Sears since June 2010. I needed to purchase a slip and some jewelry for Marcus' high school graduation. Charles and I commented on how dark the store was and that there was no real traffic in the store.

Now we hear that Sears will be closing 100-120 stores, including Kmarts. Analysis state that Sears missed the boat but not remodeling and updating their stores. They're also stating low electronic sales.

When Marcus was little we used to purchase most of his clothes there because Sears had a children clothing reward program. We also purchased our first vacuum cleaner and air conditioner from them.

When we moved to Las Vegas we went to a Sears Essential to stock up on swimwear, flip flops and summer clothes. I think we even bought our first digital camera there.

Questions: Do you shop at Sears/Kmart? Do you think that they'll be able to survive the bad economy?

Van Halen Announces 2012 Tour ~ David Lee Roth Will Be Joining Them

While listening to the radio "Panama" by Van Halen came on. I immediately started singing the lyrics. Marcus, our son, asked me the name of band and then said, "This is a great song Mom"! I smiled.
David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, Alex Van Halen

Today, Van Halen has announced that they will be on tour next year. David Lee Roth will be joining them.

My husband shared that he would love to see them in concert. I think it would be fun to go to a concert with the hubby and our son. I'm sure we wouldn't be the only family there.

Even my mother loved David Lee Roth. I wonder if he's aware of his 70+ year female fan base?!

Menu Plan Monday ~ December 26, 2011

Christmas was wonderful! Charles didn't have to go to work till the afternoon so we had a delicious breakfast of homemade Belgian Waffles, syrup and coffee.

Marcus slept in so I moved his gifts to his room. My husband and I bought him a gorgeous watch. His response was "A man should have a watch"! Then he gave each of us a hug!

This year I didn't want anything but time with my husband and son. And I did get that. My husband and I spend the day shopping at Town Square and Las Vegas Premium Outlet North and then had lunch. I loved holding his hand as we walked.

Marcus and I went shopping at Sam's Club and Big Lots last week. We love being goofy at Sam's Club...stopping at the food demos, sitting in the recliners and office chairs and walking the aisles.

Now onto this week's menu plan!

Ribs, mashed potatoes and collard greens

Oven Baked Pork Chops, mixed greens, corn

Fish and Chips

Chicken Noodle Soup

Sandwiches ~ Port O Subs

Hubby at Work in Christmas Day

My husband had to work on Christmas Day but surprised me with a few photos of him. I think he looks very handsome in his uniform and at the wheel.

I've Discovered BH Cosmetics 28 Neutral Palette! And I Love It!

I purchased the BH Cosmetics 28 Neutral Palette, a couple of months ago for $12!

Only recently have I really started putting it to good use. After watching the online demo video a few times I decided to start experimenting with the eye shadows. Even though it's listed under the eye makeup category many of the colors can be used for concealing, blush and contouring.

I also wanted to recommend YouTube. If you do a search for BH Cosmetics you'll pull up several channels that have tutorials and reviews on the eye palettes.

I decided to use 2 colors for blush and contouring the cheeks!
You don't have to use a lot since the pigments are very rich!
Isn't it great when you find a product that has several uses at an affordable price?

Our Microwave Has Decided to Die Today!

Here's what I love about creates a point of reference for you.

Example: How long did this microwave oven last?!

So I headed to my blog and searched microwave oven and I discovered we purchased a new microwave in November 2005!

Now I need to decide what must have features we want in our new microwave, the price range and then hit the store.

Deaths Link to Neti Pot Users In Lousiana

I've been using a Neti Pot since this spring.

When used properly many people, including myself, have noticed less headaches and sinus congestion issues.

Recently, I read that there are been some deaths linked to some Neti Pot users. They died from Naegleria fowleri, the so-called brain-eating amoeba.

Here's a except from Yahoo Health article: A 51-year-old DeSoto Parish woman died after using tap water in a neti pot to irrigate her sinuses and became infected by the deadly amoeba, which entered the body through her nose. In June, a 20-year-old St. Bernard Parish man died under the same circumstances.

"If you are irrigating, flushing, or rinsing your sinuses, for example, by using a neti pot, use distilled, sterile or previously boiled water to make up the irrigation solution," said Louisiana State Epidemiologist, Dr. Raoult Ratard. "Tap water is safe for drinking, but not for irrigating your nose."

It's also recommended to rinse out the pot after every use and let air dry open.

Oh Christmas Tree! December 2011

I decided to reuse wrapping paper, newspaper and packing materials this year. A great way to save money and be green too!
Our tree reflects our family...ornaments, gift tags, greeting tags, photos and lots of memories.

Is There a Law and Order Christmas Marathon On?

It wouldn't be Christmas for L&O fans if there wasn't a marathon on somewhere!

I found one at WGN America, December 24, Saturday, starting at 11am to 6pm EST.

TNT will be showing the original, "Law & Order" at it's regular time, on Saturday and Sunday.

And last, Netflix offers Instant Watch full episodes of the "Law and Order" original and "Law and Order: Criminal Intent"

Merry Christmas!

"Mom, Are You Baking or Is That a Candle"? Sugar Cookies

I've have a few Cookies for Santa Yankee Candles placed through out the house so this afternoon Marcus wanted to know if I was baking or was it the candles!

Looks like it's the real thing!

Jewish Rye Bread! My Favorite Marcus

Marcus, our son, went to Big Lots for some staples. For a surprise, he purchased a loaf of Jewish Rye bread, knowing that I love it!

Looks fine on top but...
The wrapping looks like it hit some heat, the bread has been exposed and is stale. Yuck!

New Kitchen Hooks ~ Goodbye Chickens

The chickens were cute but we needed something more sturdy so my husband and I started looking around for replacements. He really wanted a panel with hooks on it but I thought that plain hooks would work best.

Bye-bye chickens!

Hello, pewter hooks! I can now display my aprons in the kitchen.

The hooks were only $3 at Target!

Last Night's Dinner Was Successful!

I wasn't in the mood to do a traditional fried chicken so when my husband asked what was for dinner I told him I was planning on putting the chicken in the oven. My husband and son love crispy chicken. Sometimes, it doesn't turn out that way!

Well, this batched did and even got Marcus to the dining table!

Do You Think Neal and Sophie Made a Mistake? The Young and the Restless

I haven't seen The Young and the Restless for almost a week so I thought I would catch up online while relaxing in my new sitting area.

So, I was surprised to discover that Neal and Sophie were getting married. Neal is a great guy but come on more original ideas?!
