I love cooking and eating at home. Last night, Charles. my husband, served up pan grilled Rib Eye Steaks and Baked Potatoes for dinner. Yummy!

We also find cooking together entertaining. I really enjoy cooking with Marcus. We talk about lots of topics while making a delicious meal. And the conversation continues at the dinner table.

Things I Learned Thursday ~ April 7, 2011

I've been advised that wearing wigs is like being a different woman. Just take a look at my hubby's face!

Cleaning your carpet also gives you clean air, helps your sinusitis and lifts your spirits! Thank you Marcus and Charles!

It was great chatting with Kiana yesterday. She's much calmer, enjoying her part time job and keeping up her studies! I do miss her every day!

Charles' French Toast has healing powers! My hubby treated me to some delicious french toast with strawberries, sprinkled with confectionery sugar! It truly lifted my spirits that morning!

Pampering Purchases at CVS

I had to pick up a couple medications at CVS. While I was there I decided to treat myself to a few items pamper purchases yesterday.



After my discussion with my pain management doctor about stress I immediately put it in the shopping cart. It's found a home on my work desk.


I love this Purple nail color of Sally Hanson Color Quick Nail Pen! It cost less then a manicure and I can do my own touch ups!


Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Grocery store was selling sunflowers for $4.00. One of my favorite flowers!

Marcus and I really enjoyed watching this episode online. It was interesting to see how the ideas became the final project.

I'm Starting to Feel Better - My Ongoing Journey

Last week was full of highs and lows. Kiana has moved home to her mother's. I had my hair buzzed off. I'm dealing with increased pain, hot flashes and nausea. And of course, my depression cloud is growing.

But today, I actually do feeling a little better. (despite the nausea)

I do miss Kiana. I'm not sure when or if we'll be able to see her again.

My sweet dear husband has been showering me with lots compliments and love. I love the healthy salads that he makes me for lunch! Marcus tells me that I look great with my buzz cut, as he pats me on the head.

I just need to remember to give it some time. (lots of prayers)

Maya Angelou is a poet, author and civil-rights activist. She was born, today, in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was the first African American to remain on the New York Times Bestseller List for two years. She can also speak six languages, including West African Fanti. What an amazing woman!

My husband had the honor and privileged of meeting her while she was staying at the Hilton Torrey LaJolla Pines many years ago.

Menu Plan Monday ~ April 4, 2011

Kiana has moved back with her mother. Her father called and said he wanted her to move out that day. When her mother showed up to pick her up she seemed much calmer and ready to have her home. After all the crying I can see that this is for the best.

I've experiencing hair loss for a few months. So, I made an appointment with my hairstylist to have a buzz cut. "T" and I also talked about wigs, wearing them, care and maintenance. I'll be having her making a custom wig for me once I purchase the hair. The style will be a Michelle Obama bob inspired look.

I've been suffering from hot flashes that have me running to the freezer for ice packs these last weeks! This gal is not a candidate for hormones so if you have had some success with alternative treatments please share.

I was doing some window shopping on Etsy yesterday when I came upon this article, She Goes Covered.

The article introduces the reader to Helen Rosen, a self-proclaimed master sheitel designer. Helen realizes that her business would be profitable when she moves to Peru, which she does. There she able to purchase the local ladies's untreated hair and then design and produce sheitels.

Another discovery, of mine, was that Orthodox Jewish married women, wear sheitels, a wig or hair piece, in order to conform with the requirement of Jewish Law to cover their hair.

What was also extremely interesting was that in the Indian culture, there's a religious ritual when women cut their hair.

Since Marcus and Charles have a moving job today I decided to do the laundry. That way Monday will be a true day off!

I love being a wife, mom, severe chronic pain sufferer, and a Christian! My favorite pasttimes are scrapbooking, reading, arts and crafts, taking walks with my hubby, home decorating, Etsy, caring for my family, cleaning and organizing! Our family has lived in Portland, Maine, San Diego and now Las Vegas, Nevada.


Meet my family, which consist of my husband, Charles, Kiana and son, Marcus.


Just recently I've added hair loss to my list of health issues! Most of the time, I don't wear my wig. I'm finding that I'm very comfortable with my buzz cut.

But there are times I do wear my wig.


I currently work at home for a national telecommunications company, as a repair tech support ~ full time. I'm very lucky to have that opportunity along with full benefits. Due to my severe chronic pain I've found that working at home is ideal for managing my health!

My hubby will become my co-worker next week, in the customer service/sales department. He currently works at Uhaul, as a Customer Service Rep.

Our son, Marcus works for the county as a Program Assistant, at a recreation center. He's also planning on attending culinary arts school this year! My husband and I are extremely proud of him!

Kiana is finishing her senior year at Oydssey High School, a distance learning school. She's also turning 18 years old this month. Kiana recently left us to live with her mom. We miss her everyday!
