Catherine Zeta-Jones recently shared that she spent 5 days in treatment for her bipolar disorder.
In my journey I found my way to treatment when I was committed to a mental institute after I attempted suicide, in April 2010, for my Major Depression Disorder.
On my third day, in the institution, the counselor pulled out some arts and crafts and placed them on the table. I commented that we were treating us as mental patients. That's when someone said "Rona, you finally got the memo"!
While staying there the doctors were finally able to find the right medication and dosage that will give 8 hours of deep sleep in 10 years! I was placed back on Prozac but with a higher dosage. I would also finally admit that I had a disease, needed to treat it as such and accept help.
I continue to pray for all of us that suffer from mental illness.
