Hubby's Tortilla Chips: A Family Favorite!

Charles always makes our tortilla chips. And I have to say they are way better than the ones in a bag! My husband learned from his mother and has been making them for years. He than taught Marcus who says he just knows when the chips are ready!

My husband cuts up corn tortillas in similar size triangle shapes, fries them in vegetable oil in a cast iron frying pan. He uses Guerrero Corn Tortillas. If we're at a Mexican market he'll purchase the handmade corn tortillas.

Once the oil is hot he'll place a few into the pan. Don't crowd them. Look for a brown color and crispy texture to develop around the edges before turning them over.

When they are golden brown he removes them from the oil onto a paper towel that's placed on a cooling rack. He also immediately seasons them with light dash of salt.

I have a habit of not waiting for them to cool off before enjoying them. He will either serve them with homemade guacamole or salsa. Marcus and I will also enjoy them plain. Delicious!
