Thrift Shop Finds ~ April 2012

I stopped by Epic Thrift Center today. Along with shopping for treasures I met and chatted with a few ladies who gave me thrift shopping tips. One: I should check out Savers. Two: Best deals are found by shopping several thrift stores. 3 short sleeve shirts + 3 clay dinner plates = total $21.00

Key Points of the Maine Dialect ~ Something You Probably Don't Know About Me!

I spent over 25 years living in Southern Maine.  So it shouldn't be a surprise that I picked up the accent.  When my husband was transferred  to San Diego, Marcus and I joined him. People would comment that they didn't understand me.  They thought I was from Canada.  What?!  "That's wicked crazy"!

Since I was working in call centers I would listen to tapes, of my voice and practice daily to reduce the Maine accent.

Over the years my accent has lessen but New Englanders will catch it.

Dick Clark Dead at Age 82

Dick Clark Dead at Age 82

I remember looking forward to Saturdays because "American Bandstand" , TV show, was going to be on.   Prior to MTV this was one of the few places teens and adults would see their favorite singers and bands perform.  And how about the fashions, hairstyles and dancing?  My friends and I would try out the new steps at the Saturday night youth center dance.  We thought we were so cool!

My Little Boy, Marcus!

I haven't been able to chase Marcus down for a photo till today. He just got back from college campus. One of his nicknames is "Little One". He earned that one as my little buddy, around 3 years old. He doesn't mind it when I call him that...at home!

It's Organize Your Files Week! 3rd Week of April

Like this gal needs an excuse to organize the home files! But sometimes I could use a little motivation! I tackle the papers in the file box weekly. Usually while listening to a Dr. Laura radio segment on Sirius. This week's filing project is my cookbooks! I don't think I've worked on them for a few years! Bad Rona! "Mom! Dr. Laura is on!"

Still Discovering The Secrets of Vinegar!

The Ultimate Blog Party 2012 is still going strong! Come join us! Last month, I shared that I've finally got on the green cleaning kick using vinegar! I started with cleaning the coffeepot and using it in the dishwasher to prevent spots. I went through the small bottle of vinegar so this time I purchased a 1 gallon of distilled vinegar for $4. I'm now using it to clean and deodorize the microwave. I use one part water and vinegar in a small bowl, set the timer at 1 minute and than let it sit for a couple minutes. The food just wipes off with ease. And it just smells clean. Here's some more ways to utilize vinegar in your house cleaning! "I like to keep a spray bottle of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 rubbing alcohol to clean with.....it really shines up mirrors and faucets. Cheap too!" from I'm Living the Good Life! Chief Family Officer says You can add some to a load of whites for extra brightness (but not too much or you'll smell it).

Hanging Out With The Ladies!

The neighbor ladies like to hang out at the apartment office and chat about anything! I usually forget what time it when I'm down there. Main Topic: Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion! Secondary: when are you too old to wear a mini.

Ultimate Blog Party 2012 at 5 Minutes for Mom

Welcome to BerryMorins Bits & Tips! I hope you're having fun visiting lots of blogs during this year's Ultimate Blog Party! My name is Rona aka Bubbles. Important things that occurred since last year's Ultimate Blog Party: I turned 50 years old, became a full time housewife, started a holistic pain management treatment! This is my husband, Charles. We've known each other since '88 and as of this month 16 years of marriage. He's my Big Daddy! He works hard to provide for us. "You keep doing what you're doing at home and I'll keep doing my thing at work"! His kisses still give me butterflies! Here's our 20 yr old son, Marcus aka The Bacon Eating Kid. He's been doing volunteer work, studying religions on his own time and is now starting college in the summer. Whee! Yes, we live in Las Vegas for almost 5 years! Summers are brutal with this dry, hot heat! Winters can be cold enough for it snow. So, we have 2 wardrobe…

Jumping Tandem Sundays ~ April 15, 2012

The more you invest in a marriage, the more valuable it becomes. --Amy Grant Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher, of New Bern, North Carolina, took their ’til death do us part’ marital vows literally. They would have celebrated their 87th year of marriage on May 13, 2011 had one of them not passed away.

2 Cafe Rona Coffees Please!

I decided to get the fixings on Saturday and make the hubby and I cafe style coffees this morning. He was pleasantly surprised.
