Hubby and I Enjoying a Leisurely Saturday Morning at Home
One of my favorite ways to spend a summer morning is with my husband, some ice cold lime water, and the latest issue of 'Country Living' magazine.

Marcus' Big Lots shopping mission was to purchase body wash, shampoo and bread. Also, if he saw any other great buys that still fit into our budget of $50 he could go for it!

Marcus and I are planning to participate in the walk in support of our friend, Christine!
Chiari Malformation is a serious neurological disorder affecting 300,000 people in the US. The Conquer Chiari Walk Across America is a series of local awareness and fundraising walks held across the country on the same day. Join us on this special day and help the thousands of families struggling with this terrible disease. All proceeds will be used to fund Chiari research.

Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life: Dining Rooms
This week, Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life weekly linky party theme is Dining Rooms. Welcome to our Las Vegas apartment dining space! My husband, son and I have lived in this 1100 sq ft apartment for a couple of years.
a view from the kitchen area. our family loves the pub style dining set! I needed something high due to severe back pain and our son is very tall. The wall decal is from an Etsy store. The clock is from Ikea!
my cookbook collection that I've been adding to for 20 years!
the "A Kind Word is Never Wasted" was purchased from an Etsy store.
The banner was purchased from Etsy and I decided to use the back for summer. Just needed some alphabet stickers and cutouts from my scrapbook supplies.
The runner is actually a scarf that I purchased for $1 at a thrift shop. I really love items that have multiple uses. The blue glass bowl was purchased from a defunct business called Avon Home.
The "Eat" sign was an Etsy purchase. The vegetable plaques were purchased from Ross. Thanks for stopping by!

Retired My Planner: We Had Good Times !
After years of no longer needing to keep track of our family's schedule I decided to 'retire' my planner today!
When Marcus was growing up I had to manage his doctor and orthodontist appointments, birthday parties, school schedule, sports, volunteering and church events along with my husband and I's work and personal schedules. Now that I look back I was organized! I think I only forgot to pick him up on 1/2 school days twice!
Now we have less hectic lives, Marcus is grown and since I'm no longer working I find the dry erasable calendars and Yahoo calendar effective.

Showbiz Tonight on HLN LiveStream Chat with Eric Braeden of Young & The Restless
What a treat to be able to attend a live chat at Showbiz Tonight with Eric Braeden, Victor Newman of Young & The Restless on Monday.
AJ Hammer, Showbiz Tonight, HLN, hosted the LiveStream event. Attendees were also able to ask questions.
He spoke about his 32 years, playing Victor Newman on Young & the Restless as extraordinary! He also shared his disappointment in the dying of soap operas over the years. He took time for question like what was is favorite storyline~ when he found out that his mother and father had abandoned him, as a child.

Las Vegas YMCA Is Providing Free and Reduced Lunches
In Las Vegas families are struggling to pay electric bills while some paychecks have been reduced. Thank goodness for the YMCA's summer food program!
Las Vegas (May 29, 2012) ~Three YMCA of Southern Nevada locations are participating in the summer food service program, a continuation of The National School Lunch Program, a federally assisted meal program providing nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to students. Youth under age 19 can receive a free lunch from June 11 through August 24 (except July 4), Monday through Friday at the Y locations below. Pre-registration is not required.

Please Support The Farm Bill and SNAP Today!
Today I attended the Feeding America Virtual Town Hall discussion on the Farm Bill, over the phone. Rep. Jim McGovern, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, and others were in attendence to discuss the importance of passing the Farm Bill.
The most powerful statements came from people who are currently receiving SNAP benefits and how it's impacting their lives. One person shared that she has seen her benefits drop to $16 a month even though she's unable to work and required a special diet! My heart ached for all the callers.
For many of us that don't qualify for SNAP program it's a daily struggle deciding to pay the electric bill or refill your prescriptions. One can only imagine making the decision to feed her family once a day!
Please take the time today to phone or email your Senators and Representative in support of the Farm Bill and SNAP! Thank you!
