Dutch Babies with Blueberries for Brunch!

I bought a package of blueberries at Smart & Final yesterday. (18 oz for $2.99) So this morning I decided to make dutch babies (oven pancakes) for brunch!
I love using the small cast iron frying pan for this job. We're always happy with the finish results using this dutch baby recipe.
Just add your choice of fruit! confectionery sugar, sour cream, syrup and whipped cream are optional!

I Attended The Virtual Tasting with David Mirassou Winery

My husband and I enjoy a glass of wine, would like to try new wines but don't know where to start so when I saw an invite courtesy of Bloggy Bootcamp I knew I needed to attend. So I RSVP to attend the USTREAM live event.

David Mirassou, Mirassou Winery, shared the winery's history, explained helpful points of interest on their website, gave wine entertaining tips and answered questions! He also sampled a few of the wines and described the wines. We could also chat and social stream which is always lots of fun!
By the way, my question was answered, "I like dry white wine and my husband loves sweet. Which wines would you suggest?" answer: Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio

I'm going to surprise my husband with a wine tasting and appetizers on his day off next week. He'll definitely get a kick out of it.

This week Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life home tour is laundry rooms! Our laundry room is one of my favorite rooms. It's sunny and has just enough room for me to hang out and fold laundry. I hope you enjoy your visit. Thanks for stopping by.

Miss Mustard Seed Furniture Feature Friday ~ A Coffee Table Turned Into a Bench

I actually remember seeing a coffee table like this one in our local Goodwill store. I love how Sabby in Suburbia used the white paint color and fabric choice. The bench has a much cleaner and crisp look! And to think, I have the perfect place for this. fyi Sabby mentioned that she used spray adhesive to attach the foam to the table

Big Lots Shopping Trip! August 2012

This month my husband and I went to Big Lots. As usual, the budget was $50. We stocked up on Big Lots toilet paper, paper towels, Martha Stewart natural dishwasher detergent, toothpaste, body wash, soap and pastas. The grand total...$48.17.

Dave, The Travelling Plant, Got a New Home!

Dave, our African Jasmine Plant, has been with us since 2007. (We take him with us on every move) So, when he outgrew his pot our son suggested I use a Rubbermate tote. I cleaned the tote, air dried, and punched holes in the bottom. I removed Dave from his circular pot, added potting soil, re-potted him on Saturday morning.
On Sunday morning, I went out to give him some water and noticed he's really loving his new home.
He does need to be cut back for the winter but for now we'll see if he continues spreading out.

Martha Stewart Clean Dishwasher Detergent: It Works for Us!

I've been on a quest to slowly introduce natural cleaning products in our home. The natural cleaning product must give the same or better results as the chemical cleaning product. That mission proofed to be a challenge when it came to dishwasher detergent. I first try a few from Etsy stores. They smelled nice and clean but we were having re-wash the dishes. It left me very frustrated.
It wasn't till my son and I were at Big Lots that I spotted bottles of Martha Stewart Clean dishwasher liquid for $3.50. I asked him to grab me a bottle from the top shelf and figured for the price I would give it a try!
I read the instructions which suggested if you have hard water to use extra. I also use white vinegar for the rinse cycle. We've been using this product for a few months now and everyone is a fan. It works for us!

Sometimes You Just Need a Mental Refresher!

As a depression sufferer of many years I've had some terrible therapists and a few good ones. Recently I've been struggling a bit since the introduction of the hot flashes and feeling overwhelmed with peri-menopausal symptoms. So it wasn't too surprising that I felt depressed sometimes. And due to my mental history, I quickly dialed my husband's EAP (Employee Assistance Program) provider for an appointment.

EAP is a program that employers offer as a benefit. They usually will cover 6-12 counseling appointments with a local therapist.
On Friday, I had my first appointment with my new therapist. I found her refreshing when she asked me what I wanted to accomplish after I explained my mental history, including my stay at a mental institution. She advised me that I sounded like a positive person who takes their Major Depression Disorder seriously.
She assured me that the hubby and I can weather the storm and that she would look into holistic menopausal supplements for me. I'll be meeting with her once a week for 3-6 sessions. Wow! Let's just say I was impressed that she really wants to help me! That 30 minute session truly made me feel better.

Have You Caught The Moss Initial Fever?

When you type in moss initials into the search box at Pinterest don't be surprised to have lots of results. It seems many crafters have discovered it's more affordable and fun to make their own.
I'm thinking of setting aside some funds to make a couple of initials. One for the front door and another for the home office.

Cinnamon Waffles ~ A Quick Breakfast Recipe

I love making homemade Belgian waffles for my family but sometimes I'm just not feeling up to it.
Cinnamon Roll Waffles
You'll need a can of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls, oil, wafflemaker
spray or brush the wafflemaker irons, place each roll on an iron, keep an eye on your waffles~ cooking time varies. I plan on serving these with sugar-free syrup.

"The Closer" Series Finale Recap

Even though our favorite family TV program, The Closer, ended last Monday and we no longer have cable that didn't mean we weren't able to find out what happened in the series finale.

Menu Plan Monday ~ August 20, 2012

We're still in our free 30-day trial with Amazon Prime. My husband and I love that we can watch NYPD Blue episodes. Our son isn't sold on it since he gets his entertainment viewing on YouTube. The jury is still out. Thanks to Organizing Junkie for hosting Menu Plan Mondays!
