Marcus, What Are You Reading ? World War Z by Max Brooks

Marcus wanted to read the book before seeing the movie. So, my husband ordered him the book on Amazon.

And what does he think of the book? "Man! I find myself getting sucked right in"! By the way, that's a big 2 thumbs up!

Tonight's Dinner: Red Beans and Rice

My husband's favorite bean recipe is Red Beans and Rice. I discovered this recipe, prepared it and found a winner!

Since I'm busy today I decided to make it in the crock pot! Yummy!

Happy Holidays Greeting Cards ~ BritTsPaperBoutique

I just love giving handmade greeting cards. Thanks to Etsy I can do so. This year I wanted to find a local seller, who's style would appeal to me. I did find that with BritTsPaperBoutique!
What an adorable thank you note! Do you know I actually keep these on my office memo board?
These greeting cards are too cute to give them all away. I just had keep one!

Christmas Nativity Scenes on Pinterest

This is a rough Christmas for many people. No matter the lost in our lives please remember why we take time to celebrate Christmas.

Thanks to 5 Minutes for Mom for hosting Pin It Fridays.

Christmas Mug Swap at Heatherly Loves!

I discovered the Christmas Mug Swap from April's Country Life. The swap party sounded like lots of fun so I decided to give it a try and sign up at Heatherly Loves! Here's the mug that I sent my swap.

"Mom! You got a package"! I love hearing that!
It's it fun to receive packages in the mail?
I think I'll open the box first!
I love the snowflake on the envelope! And what pretty paper.
What a lovely card! I love the snowflake theme.
I actually misplaced the packing label with the sender's name. (I'm so sorry)

Stephanie, The Enchanting Rose, sent me the Christmas mug swap! Thank you so much for my mug, ornament, hot chocolate and card. You truly made my day!

Chronic Pain Sufferers: Pacing Yourself During the Holiday Season

My life isn't the typical example of the holiday season. We don't currently have family obligations or a busy party schedule, so it's much easier for me to take moments of mediation and rest. But for many other chronic pain sufferers comment about the increased stress the holidays bring! And additional stress can lead to more pain, muscle inflammation! Ugh!

As a regular follower of Jen, FibroTV, Facebook and Twitter. And noticed a link to an article, "How to Stay Sane When in Pain During the Holidays", on her website that many may find helpful.

Matter of fact, you don't have to be a chronic pain sufferer to find this article beneficial.

Christmas Ornaments Cross Stitch Project

I use to cross stitch before my work related injury, in 2003, left me with physical restriction and additional pain conditions.

Cross stitching was relaxing, for me, while I was recovering from back injury. It distracted me and it was fun to see the end results.

So, I stopped by Etsy, last week, did a search for beginner cross stitch kits and discovered a Christmas ornament kit for $9.50 at Budgie Goods! I decided to give cross stitching another try and purchased the kit.
The kit includes thread, needle, 2 wooden discs, 2 felt circles and instructions.
After 4 hours, with multiple breaks I got this far! Whee! My stitches are rough but not bad for a gal with Myofacial pain syndrome.

I'll share photos of the finished project in a few weeks.

I Smell Like Cinnamon Buns! Soapy Sweet Treats

I love to give Christmas gifts that get opened immediately! This Cinnamon Bun soap smells amazing. I wish there was smell-a-vision so everyone could get a whiff!
Soapy Sweet Treats, Etsy, shipped it over the weekend and it showed up in my mailbox on Monday! Wow!

It's a wonderful treat, to help me unwind for the evening.

Kelly's Korner 2012 Christmas Tour of Homes

Kelly's Korner is hosting her 2012 Christmas Tour of Homes so I thought I would join in!

Welcome to our home! It's Christmas time in Vegas!
There's snow on the mountain tops but not on the ground. It is cold here. 40-50 degrees in the daytime and low 30's at night! And we love it!

Our large Christmas tree is in the office this year. It definitely feels at home in there!
I decided to use our brown barn star as a tree topper this year. I also tried my hand at dried orange slices ornaments.
I wanted to put items around the house to good use like newspaper and shopping bags becomes wrapping paper and gift bags!
Kiana and Marcus gave us this ornament after their trip to Salt Lake City a couple of years ago.
Here's one our son made in Christmas Youth camp. It's my all-time favorite ornament!
Our son at 5 years old. Another favorite ornament!
Pinterest pins were my inspiration for this Christmas card tree!
I'm planning on purchasing some flame-less tea candles for the circle wall candle holder. It will be a surprise for my husband.
I really like this garland in our bedroom. The small tree was a bargain purchased from Eddie Bauer years ago for $10!
I love using chalkboards in the home. This one was moved to the master bathroom.
This one is on the living room area wall.
Our son, Marcus and I hanging out in his room. How do you like my penguin hat?
My husband, Charles striking a pose!

Thank you for stopping by for a tour of home! Merry Christmas!
