Anti Depressants and OTC Cold Medicine Doesn't Mix

I'm watching lots of Law & Order!

I've been nursing a bad cold since Christmas! And despite all the ads for OTC cold medicines I know that I can't take them. Those of us that takenanti-depressants should be aware of the interactions if you take cold medicine. They can induce drowsiness, sometimes raise heart rates and even death.

So, what's one to do when they have a cold?! Plenty of rest, nasal drops of saline solution, chicken soup or Wor Wonton, and a hot shower is my cold treatment regiment. Achoo!

Egg Nog Cookies Were a Hit!

The cookies are so good!

Marcus has asked me to make another batch after he discovered that I had given most of the cookies away.

I found that they were easy to prepare. I did use a baking stone instead of our cookie sheet. In my experience, the cookies bake golden brown on the stone. I wasn't disappointed. Oh, and I did use my muffin/cookie scooper. After a the first batch I realized I didn't have to fill it completely. (my scooper is 3 tablespoons)

Thanks to Semi Homemade Mom for sharing her recipe!

It Doesn't Take A Rock Scientist to Navigate This Thing Called Marriage

Today's About.com Marriage newsletter shared a quote from "The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work" by John M. Gottman that I like so much I just had to share.

"What can make a marriage work is surprisingly simple. Happily married couples aren't smarter, richer, or more psychologically astute than others. But in their day-to-day lives, they have hit upon a dynamic that keeps their negative thoughts and feelings about each other (which all couples have) from overwhelming their positive ones. They have what I call an emotionally intelligent marriage."

Here's another quote from the book that I love! "The key to a happy marriage is becoming friends. The more you work at being friends, the easier it will be to solve problems as they arise. Marriage isn't devoid of conflict; it isn't simply a matter of communicating more. instead, it is a matter of lea…

Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen Recall Alert!

Courtesy of WebMD

Dec. 26, 2012 -- More lots of the combination painkiller hydrocodone-acetaminophen are being recalled by Mylan Institutional. The new alert follows a nationwide recall of 101 lots of the drugs issued by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals that occurred earlier this month.

The FDA says the newly recalled lots were manufactured by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals and were repackaged and distributed by Mylan Institutional. The three lots include:

3037841
3040859
3042573

The recalled bottles are supposed to contain tablets made up of 10 milligrams of hydrocodone and 500 milligrams of acetaminophen. But they are being recalled because the tablets may contain higher amounts of acetaminophen or hydrocodone than indicated on the label.

High doses of acetaminophen may put you at increased risk for liver damage.

Especially at risk are people who:

Take other medications containing acetaminophen
Have liver disease
Drink more than three alcoholic beverages a day

Additionally, t…

Rival Crockpot Replacement Lid !

As my husband was setting up the crock pot the lid handle finally broke off. He looked at me and asked if I wanted to buy a new one. I passed! (Baby, it still works) Armed with the model #, I decided to do a search at their website for a replacement lid.

It appears one cannot purchase a lid online, so I called their customer service department. A very pleasant young lady promptly responded, asked me a few questions, and advised me the lid would be replaced for free! (no shipping charges) Whoo Hoo!

She advised me she would email me my shipping info and it would be shipped UPS within 7-10 days.

Merry Christmas from the Berry-Morins

Christmas Time at Our House

Since my husband has to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas we decided to open our gifts. As always, I usually get 1-2 gifts under the tree. My husband usually gifts me with experiences, like mani-pedi, a meal out or coffee from Starbucks.

Marcus and Charles discussing and looking up the football scores on the computer. (Marcus was named after Marcus Allen, Charles' favorite all-time favorite football player) Charles decided to keep his beard for the winter. He loves his personal groomer! Marcus loves scented candles! Especially Yankee Candle bake good scents. After they finished unwrapping their gifts we headed back to the living room space for more football! Thank you Heavenly Father for the best gift of all! My amazing husband and son!

Menu Plan Monday ~ December 24, 2012

Our Christmas dinner will be Chinese take out. I did buy a turkey and placed it in the freezer for a future dinner. (can't beat those sale prices)

My husband has to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas so we'll do something special before he leaves. I'm going to spend time watching lots of tv, working on my cross stitch and taking a much needed nap.

Thank you Organizing Junkie for hosting Menu Plan Mondays! Have a wonderful Christmas!

Glitter Gel Polish for the Holidays

This weekend, I looked at my nails, nail polish was chipped and it was decided. I would try gel polish. If you haven't tried it before it's more durable, last 3+ weeks and there's lots of nail polish choices/ Here's the one I went with. I don't think the camera picks up all the glitter. I love it!

You're Still Our Little One Marcus!

Source: huff.to via Jamie on Pinterest My husband stopped by Krispy Kreme for some coffee and saw these cute snowman donuts today. We decided to buy one for our son, as a treat. When we got home we gave him the bag, he said "Thank you", and then immediately bit the head off!

It's just a reminder that he may be 6 ft 5 inches and 20 years old but he's still our "Little One"!
