I'm Wearing Blush Again. After a 30 Year Hiatus!

Blush colors have definitely changed since my 20's. Especially for women of color. Lots of brands, color choices and prices actually made things very confusing for me.

And now that I'm in my 50's I wasn't sure if many of the YouTube blush tutorials applied to me! But I decided that I would take the plunge, purchase this Coastal Scents 10 PC Blush Collection, from Amazon, for $15.95!

Coastal Scents has a many positive YouTube product reviews. I also like that this blush pallet because of the blush colors and affordable price.

In this photo, I'm wearing the blush color, in the top, most right. (the color is very natural, on my skin tone)

I'm going to continue playing with this pallet and watching more YouTube blush application tutorials.

I'll continue to keep you posted!

Shhh! I'm Going to Talk About Chronic Pain and Sex

On April 26th, my husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary! It's been 17 years, 19 years of living together and 25 years of being in love! And 13 years of severe chronic pain!

I still remember saying, "in sickness and in health", looking in each others eyes, holding clammy hands. Little did we know that we would be living, in sickness, after a car and work injury, I would be living with chronic pain and all its side effects!

And with all the medical experts, that I've seen over the 13 years, no one bothered to address the elephant in the room.

Let's face it! I love my husband but being intimate was the last thing on my mind! Chronic pain, physical limitations, and depression made lovemaking intolerable. And when you add medications...Well, You get my point!

It was my husband, who first expressed his frustration, over the lack of intimacy, after I had completed rehab, from a car accident in 2000. And since I was in therapy, at the time, I mentioned it during one of my session. She was a fantastic therapist who's specialty was chronic pain patients. She provided a supportive environment; which allowed me to vent, cry and then be ready to listen. I was given good advice, that I continue to follow today. not being afraid to plan, being creative and encouraging ongoing communication.!

Over the years, we've attend, what we call, "refresher sessions" together. It's been very helpful when I came to the decision to stop working in 2010.

My husband has advised me that he's taking a day off to celebrate our anniversary...and that I should take a long nap. Oh boy!

Springtime Means Clean Up Time! Home Office

Time to organize, sort and clean the home office!

On the decorative accent wall I removed the vinyl wall decal and added a couple of wall frames.

Marcus' world map now has a home.

I took a decorative memo click and hung the take out menus on the wall. Now, everyone knows where they are.

The desk area has less clutter making it more appealing to everyone.

Is It Time to Stop Using the Title 'Stay-At-Home-Mom'?

While watching this HuffPostLive segment yesterday all I could think of is, "When did this become an issue"?! By the way, please let me know if you agree it's time for the title to change! I would love to read your comments.

According to the panel, women and men, who are staying home, raising children, are offended by being called "Stay At Home Mom or Dad"! They are requesting that the title be changed!

Lisa Belkin, HuffPost Senior Columnist for Life, Work, and Family, states that the term is demeaning to women and men because it gives the appearance that they aren't doing anything of value. She goes even further and states that the term, Stay-At-Home Mom has been the root to the Mommy Wars! What?! Ms. Belkin is even challenging us to come up with a more appropriate title. You can read her article here!

While I stopped working in December 2010, I no longer have any kids so when asked, "What do you do"? I respond with "I'm a housewife"! And I love being a housewife.

Okay ladies and dads! I'm asking the question, "Should we drop the term, "Stay At Home Mom"?

Jumping Tandem Sunday: Please Say a Prayer of Comfort for Those Suffering From Mental Illness

It was announced, on Saturday, Pastor Rick Warren released a letter to his church, advising that his son, committed suicide. According to the family, Matthew Warren, had been suffering from depression for years, seek counseling and struggled with the pain.

As a Major Depression Disorder sufferer, who survived a suicide attempt 3 years ago, I understand how deep the pain and dark the place, one can find themselves. I woke up, in a hospital, strapped to the bed and then later, put into an ambulance, committed to a mental institution! It was there, knelled on a cold, dirty floor, that I heard and felt the Heavenly Father's voice and love.

The following bible verse is bookmarked so that I can read it daily! When I recognize my daily physical and emotional pain I able to accept the Heavenly Father's gift of strength to see me through.

My 1st Attempt: 2 Layer Starlight Yellow Cake With White Frosting

I've made Starlight Yellow Cake before in a Bundt pan and in a 9x13 rectangle pan but this was my first try with layers!

After frosting the cake I noticed the dome top. Ugh! Also, the layers were sliding so I put the cake, in the fridge, for several hours, to set. It definitely did the trick!

As always, it was delicious and moist cake!
Note to self: watch a few YouTube 'How to Frost a Cake' videos before giving it another college try!
