Researchers Claim Breakthrough in Fibromyalgia Study ~ National Pain Report

I wanted to breakdown and cry after reading this breaking news! For every doctor that told me it was all in my head~ shame on you!

National Pain Report, June 19th, 2013 by Pat Anson, Editor

Researchers are touting a “breakthrough discovery” in the diagnosis of fibromyalgia – a complex and painful condition that affects millions of people around the world.

. In a new study being published in Pain Medicine, the journal of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, researchers based at Albany Medical College say they may have finally found the first biological evidence of what causes fibromyalgia.

“Instead of being in the brain, the pathology consists of excessive sensory nerve fibers around specialized blood vessel structures located in the palms of the hands,” said Frank Rice, PhD, President of Integrated Tissue Dynamics LLC (Intidyn) and the senior researcher on the study.

In a small study of fibromyalgia patients, researchers found an “enormous increase” in sensory nerve fibers in the blood vessels of the skin on the patients’ palms. The extra nerve fibers appear to disrupt the normal flow of blood, which may explain why many fibromyalgia patients often complain of tenderness or pain in their hands and feet.

Las Vegas Summer Heat + A/C = Equal Payment Plan

This year, summer temperatures have arrived early in Las Vegas. And to make matter worst our temperatures have been over 100 degrees. (sometimes over 110) Our summer electric budget is $220 but we've been exceeding last year's usage. So, for the first time, I've decided to enroll in the Equal Payment Plan at our local electric company website.

This is a free service that takes our average power usage from the last 12 months and divide it into equal monthly payments!

Another plus, we'll know in advance what our bill will be each month!

Our bill will show: Exact meter readings for the month. Exact charges for the amount of utility services you used. Exact costs that would normally be due. The Equal Payment amount due.

Equal Payment Plan isn't for everyone so compare your actual usage with your bills. And continue to conserve energy!

Jumping Tandem Sunday ~ Fathers, Take Care of Your Sons and Daughters

"One of the things that saddens me the most about my people is fathers that don't take care of their sons and daughters. And you can't blame that on The Man or getting frisked. Take responsibility. Look in the mirror and say, 'What can I do better?' There is opportunity; you can make it. Whatever it is that you choose, be the best at it. You have an African-American president. You can do it. But take responsibility. Put your slippers way under your bed so when you get up in the morning, you have to get on your knees to find them. And while you're down there, start your day with prayer. Ask for wisdom. Ask for understanding. I'm not telling you what religion to be, but work on your spirit. You know, mind, body, and spirit. Imagine—work the brain muscle. Keep the body in tune—it's your temple. All things in moderation. Continue to search. That's the best part of life for me—continue to try to be the best man." - Denzel Washington in GQ

In our society, I feel that we underestimate the importance of a good father in our children's lives. When I hear our son's friends comment how lucky Marcus is for having a dad, my heart does break. These are grown men that still feel a hole that hasn't been filled. I can't count the times when my husband has gone to sports events to cheer on other people's sons, listened to them when they needed someone to or given advice when asked. Many even refer to him as Dad.

So on this Father's Day, I thank all the good men in our lives. Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day ~ "Thanks For Paying For Transportation To School"

Chris Rock ”Nobody appreciates daddy,” he says. ”I’m talking about the real daddy that handles the [expletive] business. Nobody ever says, ‘Hey, Daddy, thanks for knocking out this rent!’ ‘Hey, Daddy, I sure love this hot water!’ ‘Hey, Daddy, it’s easy to read with all this light!”

Let's face it, we hear celebrities, sports athletes, etc thank Mom often. But when is the last time you've heard a thank you for Dad? Last year, in response, our son, Marcus asked me to write this on a chalkboard, which we keep in the living room wall.

For this Father's Day, our son, ordered some Porterhouse steaks and the fixings. When my husband got home from work, he was greeted with a cold beer, a pat on the head and "Thanks Dad for all you do"!
