Friday's Letters with The Sweet Season ~ September 27, 2013

.

Dear Las Vegas, I'm so thrilled the temperatures have finally dropped and autumn has arrived. The husband and I are looking forward to enjoy some outdoor activities, such as walks, biking and
First Friday.

Dear Real Housewives of New Jersey, It's time to cut your loses and cancel the show. You fired Jacqueline, Caroline has quit and Kathy has been reduced to "a friend of the housewives. And of course, Teresa and Joe's status is still up in the air.

Dear Green Mountain Coffee, We love your Mocha Nut Fudge Coffee. The taste of fudgy chocolate, coffee, nuts and caramel. It's a wonderful way to start the morning.

Dear Hubby, I'm moving your long sleeve shirts to the front of the closet. Now you won't have to be digging for them early in the morning.

Dear Neighbors, We'll miss you when you move but not your dog's barking at 6 am Sunday.

I Love "My Husband Rocks" T-Shirt

I ordered my "My Husband Rocks" t-shirt at Union28.

Thursday Thoughts ~ September 26, 2013

Ramblings of a Suburban Mom's Thursday Thoughts. I really love her blog. If you're looking for the 101 on subscription boxes definitely check out her out.

I'm still living with a no-name virus infection. After seeing my primary, last Friday, she did notice that I have high calcium levels and ordered some blood tests. I'll be heading back, for a follow up visit, to discuss my blood work and to see how I'm feeling.

Fall temperatures have finally arrived in Las Vegas! The high was only 71 degrees today so I was able to open all of the windows and turn off the A/C. WooHoo!

I'm a fan of J.R. Martinez. Not just because I feel he's my hero but because he talks openly about his faith. Check out what he had to say about God's plan for him, on HuffPostLive this week.

Our Blue Apron Box Has Arrived ~ September 2013

I first heard about Blue Apron at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom. After visiting the website, I thought the hubby and I would give this service a try. After all, we love to cook and try new foods and recipes.

Blue Apron describes itself as a "new concept in grocery delivery, built around incredible cooking experiences. We offer a once-a-week subscription service where we deliver all the fresh ingredients you need to make three meals, in exactly the right proportions. We've designed our service to teach you fun new recipes, save prep time and also reduce unnecessary waste. By letting us shop for you, we can bring you fresher and higher-quality food than you can get on your own in the supermarket, and for better prices.

To subscribe, you create your account, choose the type of plan you want (meat and seafood or vegetarian) and the number of people you want to feed. (2,4,6) You can skip meal deliveries, change servings but you can't pick your 3 recipes. Oh, and they only send yo…

Addiction To Natural Opioids May Drive Chronic Pain, Study Says

Addiction to Natural Opioids May Drive Chronic Pain, Study Says, Elizabeth Lopatto - Sept 19, 2013

It may be there’s a quiet battle between the internal painkillers and the pain pathways, said study author Brad Taylor, a pain pharmacologist at the University of Kentucky. As the body becomes dependent on its internal analgesics, the pain pathways become more sensitive. Exploring these pathways may explain why some people develop chronic pain.

“We thought the injury was producing activation of the pain pathways for much longer than previously thought,” Taylor said in a telephone interview. Instead, the body’s own painkillers were camouflaging the increased pain sensitivity.

Menu Plan Monday ~ September 23, 2013

Sometimes, I need a new inspiration for my menu plans! This week, I'm turning to Blue Apron.

I'm still fighting a viral infection after 2 weeks but staying positive. The doctors tell me it's going to take some for me to get better. This is difficult for me because of my daily chronic pain. They have prescribed bed rest, fluids, anti-inflammatory and follow up.

Oh, don't miss out on my Diamond Candlegiveaway. It's ending soon.

Menu Plan Monday

slow cooker pork roast, mixed greens salad

Our Nature Box Snacks Have Arrived ~ September 2013

The Nature Box subscription is a favorite of our family. We enjoy sampling and chatting about the newly arrived snacks.

This month's Nature Box theme was back-to-school.
The Masa Chips taste similar to Frito Chips but they're healthier. Roasted Kettle Kernals are sweet and salty. Pistachio Power Clusters are sweet and savory. Delicious for an afternoon snack.

Vanilla Macaroon Clusters are sweet and crunchy. Hubby added them to yogurt last night for dessert. Delicious. Cherry Berry Bonanza is a wonderful tasty blend of sweet and tart. Our son asked to take the bag with him to share with friends.

Sunday

I recently read about Max and LaVere Robinson, in a Huffington Post article. Not only were they married 83 years but according to their granddaughter it was a good marriage. They passed within days of each other this year, August.

Recently our son shared this with me. "You and Dad really do love and support each other. "When I see an older couple, walking, holding hands, I think of you and Dad."

Lisa Goeas, their granddaughter: "[I learned that] communication, respect, patience and a sense of humor are all critical to a happy and healthy marriage," she wrote in an email. "They always treated each other with kindness and compassion. They had their issues, like everyone else, but they knew how to work through them."
