FDA Recommends Stricter Prescribing on Hydrocodones to Schedule II

National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association, October 24, 2013

FDA recommended stricter controls on hydrocodone medications today. Many people know them by name (Vicodin, Vicodin ES, Anexsia, Lortab, Lorcet, Lorcet Plus, Norco, Zydone). In a move by the FDA that many people hoped would not happen, people with chronic pain have woman with back painbeen dealt a strong blow.

In January 2013, an advisory panel of experts to the Food and Drug Administration FDA Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee articlevoted to toughen the restrictions on painkillers like Vicodin that contain hydrocodone, the most widely prescribed drugs in the country. Significant increase in pain research to discover better and more appropriate treatments would balance the unfair burden this decision makes on people with chronic pain conditions. Congress, NIH, and the FDA cannot turn their backs on 100+ million people with chronic pain conditions. Increased effort to address addiction and abuse of medications containing opioids is needed.

Rescheduling hydrocodones from Schedule III to Schedule II will have sweeping consequences for doctors, pharmacists and patients. Refills without a new prescription would be forbidden, as would faxed prescriptions and those called in by phone. Only written prescriptions from a doctor would be allowed. Distributors would be required to store the drugs in special vaults.

Star Nursery Gardening Tour

Hubby and I headed to our local Star Nursey location to buy bird repellent. (darn those pesky pigeons) Since this was our first visit to their store, we decided to take a walk through their gardening section. We were not disappointed!

A Koi Pond~with some turtles caught our eye. Especially my husband. He actually had a pet turtle when he was a kid. I loved seeing the sparkle in his eyes as he pointed out the various turtles.

I really found the pond relaxing and entertaining. If I had a large yard, this would definitely be on the wish list!

Who Says You Have To Go To A Deli To Get A Great Sandwich!

Since we had some leftover coleslaw, from hubby's birthday dinner, I decided that I would make a turkey, swiss and coleslaw on rye sandwich for today's lunch.

My son actually asked me where did I buy the sandwich. It was so good!

Vons Grocery Store: Yes, They Do Delivery!

As a chronic pain and myofascial syndrome sufferer, I can't tell you how much I dread the simple task of pushing a shopping cart. The simple act of pushing a shopping cart, loaded with groceries, can leave me with additional muscle swelling and pain for days.

Since moving to Las Vegas, 6 years ago, I use Vons grocery delivery service, once a month.

I usually start on a Wednesday when the Buy One, Get One Free and Club Card specials are updated. Our menus are based around what meats, chicken and fish that are on sale. I'll also stock up on the Buy One, Get One Free of our favorite items. I also add the free items that we qualify for, when spending more than $150.

I look over the list a few times between Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, I select next day delivery and time. The 4-hour delivery window is my favorite because I can save $6 on the delivery charge.

The final total is charged to our card after the order has been completed and bagged at the distribution location.

The day of delivery the truck arrives between the selected delivery time. The driver brings you're grocery bags in, advises you if there was anything not available (i also chose no substitutions), I sign, and am given a copy. All that's left to do is put away the groceries!

If you want to give Vons Grocery Delivery a try, *Use Promo Code: EASY7 at checkout for free delivery on your first order. Free delivery codes are not valid for Lake Powell houseboat deliveries or in-store pick up. $49 minimum order required for delivery service.

Thank you UnReal Candy for the awesome prize!

Big Lots: Curtains Shopping For Our Son's Room

This weekend, my husband and I decided to head to Big Lots for curtains and rod, for our son's bedroom. Armed with the request that the curtain color not be too dark nor too light, we felt confident to make a purchase that everyone would like.

Wow! As you can see, lots of rod choices. I'm glad we're not here for our bedroom.

Some of these choices are easy to cross off the list. It's a guys's room, after all.

After much discussion, hubby and I selected this gray curtain, with grommets. It will work well with his new wall paint color.

My husband picked this rod out. And guess, what? I really love it too. Oh, we also came under budget, $55

And this is the rod that we bought. "You guys did a great job! This is just what I wanted".

1. What do you value most in life?
That would be my relationship with the Heavenly Father. He's always been at my side, despite me turning my back on him.

2. What do you think is the greatest invention in your life and why?
That would be Trazodone. It's usually prescribed as an anti-depressant but it also helps reduce some of my chronic pain. I also get much needed REM sleep.

3. What do you think is the secret to a good life?
It's being able to forgive and love yourself. With that good things will come to you.

4. What would you most like to be remembered for when you’re gone?
I would love to be remembered as a good wife, mother and person.

5. What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?
Let's see...kicking opioid addiction is way up there on the Top 10 List. It was a difficult process but I DID IT! It's been 2 years now but each day is a success. Thank you for your love and support hubby, son and the Heavenly Father.
