Walgreens Haul ~ November 2013

After attending a Walgreens Twitter Party last month I've become a fan. While hubby was getting his haircut, I stopped off Walgreens, to purchase much needed items.

Armed with my Walgreens Balance Rewards, I went shopping! (I signed up online for a Balance Rewards card.)

I recently discovered Hello mouthwash, it's 99% natural. And I'm all for that! Many Walgreens products are less expensive but just as good as the brand name items.

This gal can never have enough rubber gloves in the house. I use them when washing dishes, cleaning the sink, etc.

My husband requested Axe Natural hair style pomade, Head & Shoulders and AAA batteries. During the winter months, our family goes through body lotion much more quickly. When I see a good price on it, I'll buy it!

Home Depot Trip: Shower Heads

Our son, Marcus' shower head needed replacing so the hubby and I took a walk to our neighborhood Home Depot today!

Are you a fan of the rainfall shower heads? I love the one, my husband, installed in our shower! I actually find myself taking 2-3 showers daily. It's so relaxing.

The ones, with the hand held feature are really nice. Don't you think so too?

Home Depot offers several price points, so one can find a shower head that fits their budget and style!

It can be loads of fun, looking at the varies shower heads. There's so many styles, features and colors!

Did you know that Home Depot carries Waterpik, Moen and Delta?

Our son requested a basic shower head, with just a few settings.

We decided on the Glacier Bay 3-Spray Showerhead in Chrome, for $9.98. And it only took 15 mins for my husband to install the new shower head.

We love shopping at Home Depot!

Target Haul ~ November 2013

I stopped off at Target this week, for just a few things....As you can see, I didn't do that. Bad Rona!

But, I did use my 5% Pharmacy Rewards, A $2 Neutrogena coupon and my Red Debit Card. Saved $23! WooHoo baby!

I purchased a comfy pair of pjs, which were on sale. Love that! While I was in the clothing section, I grabbed a red s/s t-shirt.

Hubby and I really needed new wallets. His will be a Christmas gift. The Donut House coffee was on sale too. We really love this blend.

Our son purchased new fall clothes so I picked up some hangers. And our bathrooms really needed new accessories.

I attended a Swiffer Bissell Twitter Party last week, armed with a $15 rebate, I picked up one. After I got everything unpacked, put away, I broke the SteamBoost Mop out! It works beautifully.

Thank you for another fun shopping experience Target!

Turkey Tips: Chronic Pain and Thanksgiving by

By Katrina Overland, Published Nov 26, 2013, Everyday Health

Shopping Stress

It’s the holiday season! Which means dinners with friends and family, and a whole lot of shopping, for food and for gifts. It can also mean a lot of extra stress and strain for everyone, and the cold weather plus all the hustle and bustle makes it a strenuous time for us with chronic pain.

When I go grocery shopping for myself, I’m fairly cautious about how much food I can actually buy, because I’m the only person who can carry it home. So I try to stick to one tote bag of food per weekly shopping trip, which also works well for my budget. It’s kind of a drag when I want two bottles of fruit juice or something heavy and need to buy milk, but it’s one of those habits I’ve developed unconsciously after living with fibro for several years. Monday evening, though, I went overboard — I was shopping for Thanksgiving dinner and trying to figure out how many potatoes would give me the right amount of left over garlic mashed potatoes, how big of a turkey I needed, and what I wanted to put into my brine this year. I wasn’t trying to mind how heavy my cart was getting, and I totally blew it. I ended up with enough food per pound for at least of my regular trips to the shop. For people without chronic pain (and who own cars), this isn’t probably isn’t the most pressing an issue. And I spend some time trying to see if I could power through, just hoist a bag over my shoulder and carry the turkey and roasting pan in my other hand. I live fairly close to the grocery store, after all.

HuffPostLive: Chef David Burke Cooks Turkey In A Dishwasher

When I told my son and husband about this segment, they asked, "Really? What is this guy smoking"?

You really have to see this to believe it. Chef David Burke discovered that you can not only cook a turkey in the dishwasher but most of your Thanksgiving dinner. (Yes, that includes dessert)

Click here for the recipe and instructions, if you want to give it a try. Just remember, don't add soap to the cycle.

Look! It's UNREAL Candy!

The FedEX driver knocked on the door and handed me this box today. I was very surprised because I didn't order anything.

I attended a Twitter Party, last month, where I won some UNREAL candy. It was so good!

WooHoo! It's from UNREAL Candy!

Here's an excerpt of their story! We have unjunked some of America’s favorite candy. And true to Nicky’s dream, we think it tastes better without the corn syrup, the artificial ingredients, the partially hydrogenated oils, and, believe it or not, with less sugar. In place of the junk, we’ve added more of the good stuff, like more cacao, real caramel, and peanuts. We’ve also added more protein and fiber from real food, so that each candy has a low glycemic index. All of this is simply a product of the UNREAL culture, a culture that brings together people from different walks of life and with different experiences. Our team is eclectic and unique (it even includes an Oompa Loompa and a dog named Lola).

We shared the last UNREAL Candy shipment with friends and co-workers. Many commented that they loved this candy much better then national brands. (we do too) Gotta go...I'll be dropping off a few boxes to the maintenance and office staff today. Happy Thanksgiving!

Menu Plan Monday ~ November 24, 2013

Happy Thanksgiving and Thanksgivukkah everyone! While our menu plan is short and sweet, it's long on taste. I'm just hoping that I don't breakdown and order a pizza on Thanksgiving. (we did that last year)

Are you planning on going to the movies this week? If so, what will you be seeing?

This gal will be catching up on some Hulu Plus favorites, like Coronation Street and @HuffPostLive segments this week. Hubby and son have to work even on Thanksgiving.

Organizing Junkie

braised short ribs, quinoa

baked ham, mashed potatoes, salad

roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables

When Your Hair Starts Falling Out Just Buzz It Off!

This isn't my first time having my hair buzzed off. Since 2010, I've been suffering from hair loss and thinning. My pain management doctor thinks it's due to the years of medications, perimenopause, stress. What I know is that my hubby is awesome with a pair of clippers.

This is a good day to wash my wigs, search for my knit caps. Have a wonderful week!
