Hungry Couple's Chocolate Chip Bread

Since I was in the mood to bake, had a bag of chocolate chips in the cupboard and hubby was home to help, we decided on Hungry Couple's Chocolate Chip Bread recipe! While I measured out the ingredients, hubby was in charge of creaming the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. I finished with preparing the bread pan. That left hubby with pouring the mixture in the pan, smoothing it out and placing it in the oven!

Now the kitchen smells of vanilla and chocolate. Yes Marcus. It's not a Yankee Buttercream Frosting Candle!

It's always fun to cook and bake together.

You Gotta Bake These Apple Rolls!

I've been meaning to share a couple of photos of Oh Sweet Basil's Apple Rolls that I baked recently. The apple, sugar and butter really makes this treat a winner in our house!

Oh Sweet Basil recommends serving the rolls in a dish with warm milk or cream. We preferred them without. They're amazing hot and even better at room temp! Enjoy!

What I'm Reading? "Happy Housewives Club" by Fawn Weaver

When I decided to drive into this book I forgot the box of Kleenex! Chapter 2 had me crying, wiping tears with my bed sheet! Let me just say those were tears of joy not saddeness. The stories are so full of love and laughter.

Tonight, I definitely won't forget the Kleenex!

New York Fashion Week Features First-Ever Model In Wheelchair

Maggie Freleng, Women's eNews, February 12, 2014 NEW YORK

(WOMENSENEWS)--The fashion industry is coming under steady pressure to widen the spectrum of beauty ideals.

Ad campaigns have called out unrealistic beauty standards, major department stores are adding plus-size mannequins and New York's recent child model laws are designed to protect all models under the age of 18 from exploitation.

But there's still plenty of room for more inclusion, said Danielle Sheypuk, Ms. Wheelchair New York 2012.

"People with disabilities are an untapped consumer market in terms of fashion," said Sheypuk, a clinical psychologist in New York. "We read the magazines, shop in stores, but nothing is ever pitched to us."

On Feb. 6, the first day of New York Fashion Week, which ends Feb. 13, one designer in particular seemed to understand. Carrie Hammer decided to shake things up and feature Sheypuk as the first person to "walk" the runway in a wheelchair.

Menu Plan Monday ~ February 10, 2014

This week's Downton Abbey showed Mary's funny side. It was great to see her laugh again! Oh, and Foyle's War fans must be pleased to see Julian Overton, aka Andrew Foyle, as part of the cast. Did you catch it when he said that his name is Tony Foyle? I missed it till someone brought it to my attention at Monday's Downton Abbey Chat with Julian Overton.

My husband, son and I had dinner at EllaEms on Saturday. They have the most delicious Soul Food cooking. I actually tried their chitterlings. They were Amazing! My husband had fried catfish, as his main course while our son gave praise to the fried chicken. Our sides were candied yams, collard greens, mac and cheese, red beans and rice and rice and gravy. I'm so glad I didn't have lunch because dinner was so delicious.
