Darby Smart: Vintage Button Necklace

What a fun project! I'm so glad I purchased the Vintage Button Necklace as my 1st Darby Smart craft project. The experience was so much fun and got my creative juices working!

A big thank you to my husband, for doing the delicate jewelry chain, clasp and ring work.

Gwynnie Bee: Hell Bunny Sheila Blue Dress

I really wanted to fall in love with this dress but the fabric was very thin. One would definitely have to wear a slip or a pair of Jockey skimmies, for coverage.

Also the top part of the dress hit me weird. I actually had to some major tucking to get it from exposing my bra! Yikes!

But this is why I love Gwynnie Bee, I can try on items without a commitment of a purchase. Returns are easy with the pre-paid blue envelopes that included with your selections!

Friday Breakfast: French Toast

We purchased a couple of Italian bread loaves at Walmart this week. When I got home, we noticed they weren't presliced. That's when the light bulb went on! French Toast for breakfast!

Thursday Thoughts ~ October 23, 2014

Ramblings of a Suburban Mom

I was so sorry to hear about Elizabeth Pena's passing but leave it to TMZ to dig up the details. Now we know that she passed from cirrhosis of the liver due to alcohol. There are times I wish the media would leave such things alone.

A Lynzee Ford, a Texas high school senior, who was diagnosed with cancer in January was told she wouldn’t make it to graduation. Her school decided to have a graduation ceremony just for her.

Congratulations on your high school graduation! Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynzee and her family.

Did you hear about the 'Apple One' being sold at auction for almost a million dollars? It's amazing to me that I can still remember the days of rotary phones and messaging services. Man, has technology come a long way!

Apparently, in the US, sales have been dropping due to consumers wanting healthier options. Now that I think about it, I haven't eaten at the Golden Arches over a year!

How are you doing with reconciling Illness, Work and Marriage?

How are you doing with reconciling Illness, Work and Marriage?

Chronic pain can cause many troubled times in a marriage. Over the years, I've met and spoken to many men and women who had confided in me, that their marriages came to an end due the pressures and demands of their chronic illness.

In my own marriage, we've had some rough times as we redesigned our roles as man and wife. That's why it's so important to have a plan, together. Make a list of questions prepared, to ask each other. Research your options. Don't be afraid to ask for help.

If you need some professional assistance, consider a therapist, counselor, or a coach to assist you through this new journey. Some companies even offer Employee Assistance Program, which gives you free limited counseling sessions through their program. My husband's service even offers phone counseling which work better for his busy work schedule!

No matter what. Please keep the conversation going. Your marriage is so worth it!

Menu Plan Monday ~ October 20, 2014

Organizing Junkie

This week's menu is inspired from 2 of my cookbooks. It's important to keep the menu plan fresh and delicious. And now that it's just the 2 of us I can splurge on items, like steak and shrimp, in the same week!

My husband is celebrating his 52nd birthday this week so I'll be making him Linguine with Shrimp Scampi. I'm also taking him to see Da Vinci The Exhibition, at The Venetian. Later, we'll enjoy some birthday cake, on the weekend, with the family! Happy Birthday Baby!

Do You Still Mail Greeting Cards?

One of my chronic pain support groups has decided on a pen pal project. You can mail a letter, a note or a greeting card to any participant. In return, you'll receive a response in the mail.

What a wonderful way to brighten up a person's day with something other than junk mail.

These gorgeous greeting cards were purchased from Deluce Designs at Etsy! I sure hope that the recipients enjoy them as much as I do!
